£4700 omg

Imagine if I'd had to pay for the labour!!

Exactly. As the esteemed Mr. Morris said upthread, that's why this is more than just a forum.

Since we're all sharing, here's what mine have cost, minus test, tax, insurance and petrol;

Mako (2.0 Zetec Frosty)
Purchase price: £1700 (March 2011).
Other expenditure: £790
(Brake pads front, brake pads rear, brake disks rear, two oil changes, Pipercross BK, rear strut brace, gear knob, Mercury badging, 4 x tyres, chrome battery cover, C1 leather interior (complete), vinyls, front fogs, crystal repeaters, cambelt.)

Tiger (2.5 V6 Ebony X-Pack)
Purchase price: £285 (April 2013).
Other expenditure: £270
(Sill welding, front drop links, 1 x alloy wheel repair, replacement IMRC, front wings, bonnet and tailgate, vinyls, floor mats, oil change)

On the face of it Tiger looks like better value, but I haven't had it anywhere near as long, and there's probably about £450 worth of parts (and some labour that I can't do, like shot-blasting the subframe) going into it before the end of the year.

Well if we're willy waving.....

According to my incredibly geeky spreadsheet, £1,748 since last April, plus £650 for the car.

Granted that has been a mixture of maintenance and mods (some pricey, wheels, stereo etc) but still, like I said above I have no doubt that would be double if it weren't for the guys and gals here.

Either that or scrapped.....yeah probably scrapped.

Well if we're willy waving...

Well I wasn't waving mine, just putting it out in the breeze for everyone to look at.

I'm amused by the fact that my 2.0 and your 2.5 are almost exactly opposite in terms of purchase price/work though. It doesn't mean anything of course, it's just interesting.

Oh wait! I nearly forgot that I've got another one!

Blue (2.5 V6 Melina X-Pack)
Purchase price: £36 (July 2013).
Other expenditure: £0

Took me a minute to figure out the £36 one :)
Look after it, I'm sure she'll give you many happy years of motoring!

I have spent around £10,000 on my car in 5 years including buying it. I plan to keep it for another 5 years. So all in it should work out about £1000 a year to own it. Not bad given I have lost more money on a nearly new car in the past.

Oh i forgot the V6 fogs from Dogsbody and double pull switch i got from fleebay, the heated washer jets still yet to be fitted...

and Heated Wind Screen switch national clearance on ebay plus cam belt done very cheaply and club stickers and fried egg removal and the small dent removed from the passenger door for £20.00 etc, etc,

just sat and worked it out.... :( a tad over £626.00 plus the price of the car all in it now stands me at about £1,375

Think I'll stop there for a while
