0-60 Runs at Ford Fair 2011

Great vids Al - my run looked like I was off down the shops for a pint of milk :(

Will be removing the cone filter and reverting to a standard airbox with panel filter as I think heatsoak was not helping matters

Upgrades for next year's runs? Hopefully stainless headers/sports cat and stainless pipes :)

Well Al You won the burn out comp anyway!.o_O That was purely a result of the increased mid range a set of stickier tyres would have helped no end but at least you got a time.

Al it seems you've got the vids of my run and Cougar_577 mixed up!

Still, surprising how much noise the non-ugly made on the run - shame all that noise didn't add up to a faster time (driver at fault - changing up far too early!). As expected, she bogged down quite badly due to zero wheelspin. Would have loved to have gone up against the V6 guys on a wet track though :)

It would have gone faster with the stripes John.:devilish: All that extra weight from the new paint.

It didn't help anything either by hanging onto 1st gear for too long, as soon as i changed up to 2nd, the tyres gripped and i was away, shame really.

Sorted John :)

Looks great fun guys, surprised by a few of the times over 10 seconds?? Thought the Coug did 0-60 in 8.9 sec's as standard??? Glad I didn't have mine there, as it's slow! Took my cousin out in it last week, he said "it's a bit slow aint it?" - Speedo reading just on 70mph in 3rd gear?? My Mondy will go faster than that in 3rd!! Think I have a problem...possibly need a remap??? or the IMRC is playing up??? I know I had major problems keeping up with Chris and Tim on the way back from Fest :-( I have also taken my mechanic out in it too - he also said it felt slow????

On the first runs, there was a strong headwind, which maybe accounts for the slower times by all involved. Don't know about the later runs as i wasn't there.

Tim the standard V6 time is 8.3 seconds, the car should do 58mph in 2nd (thats why 0 to 60 runs are a pain) 3rd gear is good for something in triple figures IIRC (i'll check) you need that looking at mate

You see what the fastest car on the day was? Weney in his Cosworth powered Mk3. Escort running 650hp did it in 2.74 seconds !

Was this a very stock looking car on the outside in quite a pale blue?? If it was then they were also at USC the same weekend running the 1/4 mile strip.

I watched him do a couple of runs. The 1st one I saw I was like WTF is that. I believe he was running the quarter mile in around 10 seconds.

Yeah thats the guy.
Oh Tim i've checked and its 84mph top in 3rd, 112 in 4th and 140+ in top.

Thanks Matt, if that's the case, then mine is running correctly, as when I took her out the other day I got 80mph at 6000rpm in 3rd, which is slower than my Mondy as did the same run in that and got 83mph in 3rd at 4000rpm. I'm still going to strip the UIM and LIM with the help of Add (add_issan) within the coming weeks.

Back in the days of cat1 with the help of mart the Uim and Lim were thoroughly cleaned.

It made a massive difference cleaning the butterflies on the lim.

Definitely released a few horses.

At the same time we fitted the optimized throttle body.

That found a few more extra horses but more crucially the engine felt more free flowing.

What you are planning is well worth it.

I cleaned the lim with lots of carb cleaner and a tooth brush

I guess thats why the ST200 has a cleaned out UIM then to release some valuable horses. I do wonder though if the UIM isn't the one part of the engine that drags it down, yeah it was obviously optomized at some point when the engine was designed, but that could be for an efficent power delivery or emmisions/economy etc. Not all out power?
Untill someone fits an alternative inlet manifold though we will never know. (it has been the norm in tuning circles to change inlet pipes to gain power as can be seen from the Zetec boys manifolds)
