I was driving along and it just cut out on me and refused to start. it has no spark but there is power going to the coil pack, ive replaced the crankshaft censor and coil pack and leads, the fuel pump is working as you can hear it when turning the ignition on, ive checked all fuses and the fuel cut off switch but still it wont start.

does anyone have any suggestions?

the immobiliser kills starter, fuel pump and ignition. if the cam belt is intact check the camshaft sensor. it wont fire with a bad crank sensor or camshaft sensor

Locate horn relay.

Locate Engine Management relay

Swap

Test.

If it works, it's illegal to drive without a horn, but it's probably less tricky than driving one that won't start.

Are the cams rotating when the engine is cranked? Easiest way to check is remove the oil filler cap and crank the engine (y)

That's good news. The belt is intact (y)

What is the immobiliser light on the dash doing when the ignition is switched on? (It should be off)

Don't want to state the obvious but you have checked the fuses haven't you? In the engine bay - according to the handbook, check fuses:

1 (Ignition)

10 (Ignition)

11 (Engine Management)

Anyone know why fuse 1 "Must be replaced by a Ford dealer"?

I believe it's because if that fuse fails, it means that very bad things are happening in your main loom. It's probably a precautionary note.

:edit: It appears to be the main fuse for the (80A) link to the satellite fusebox in the passenger footwell as well. Maybe that's why they're a bit precious about it.

Back to basics for a minute cos i've been busy all day and my head hurts .

When you turn the key, does the engine sound normal? apart from the obvious non start .
The fact that the cams are turning proves nothing except they are actually turning. If the belt has shredded or jumped for any reason, (usually left too long between renewals or badly fitted) then the engine could be miles out of time, hence the "normal" question.
