1999 v6 oem stereo?

Hi, i was wondering what stereo was standard fit for the above mentioned car? Thanks. And would any doible din unit fit?

Standard units are the 5000,6000 and 7000 series. Most common is the 6000. Nicest one is the 6006e

Ford OEM units are smaller than double DIN but the facia surround can be trimmed to allow a true double DIN to be fitted.

Or, if you don't want to hack about, you can get a fill-in panel and put a single DIN unit in. I've got a C2 with the 6006E in it and I'm quite pleased with it. It's the one with the 6 disc changed built in to the head unit itself rather than being a separate unit in the boot. Rumour has it that it doesn't get on well with non-original CDs (i.e. CD-R) so I haven't tried it just in case.

My 6006e has no problems with the CD-R's I've burnt. I don't know if it's helped but I tend to use branded rather than cheapo disks.

Thanks for the advice guys, i think i will get a 6006e unit when funds allow. Gotta sort the rear dampers first and brakes and the heater but i tell you what; the engine sounds sweet. Gotta love the cougar.

Thanks for that. I've been hesitant to try it just in case but I've a large pile of Sony CD-R blanks so may give it a go.
