50k milestone

Well thats my cougar hit the 50k mark today coming home from work, it will not be long to getting it off the road and get it restored

i know the cougar v6 has a chain but is there anything else i should be changing water pump?
 
Good to see a low mileage cat on here. Water pump only needs changing if it has a plastic impeller.
My cat topped the 80k mark coming back from Castle Combe on Saturday night.

nice low mileage, my new cat has just turned 70k(when i pick her up), wonder who has the lowest mileage cat on the forum.

Most will have plastic impellers as that's what Ford fitted in the factory. The concern that the impellers will break up is a bit of a myth. In all my years in this club it rarely happens. The most common water pump problems have been leaks, belt and belt tensioner problems. So the best thing you can do is check the belt and tensioner condition and maybe even replace just for precaution even if not necessary.

Having said all that, I had my pump replaced for a metal impeller one. :LOL:
