Hey All, been a little busy this afternoon with a bit of work to the "dressing" of the engine bay. As the title suggests, this is a work in progress and is in it's rough stage, but it gives you an idea about what I'm doing. The front plastic cover with "Duratec" etc. with be eventually sprayed red with black lettering. The colour in the pic looks orange, but it's not, it's bright red. Anyway.....for your entertainment....lol

This is one of those that's bound to look better in the light of day. The red pipework should look good Tim, and i agree, the uim dual colour is a nice touch. Now i suppose you'll be lifting YOUR bonnet at every meet

Did somebody say you were normal?

Hmmm...looking better in the flesh....well, it will once I've finished it, as the paintwork is a little rough, so will be tidying that up.

Re: Your nuts....no mate, I'm not that way inclined, you can keep your nuts well away from me thanks! LOL!!!!!!

I like the the twin coloured UIM, something I was discussing with someone else not too long ago!! gotta say though, does look like you've had styling tips from Matt lmfao

I'm sure it looks right in the flesh................;) Good stuff dude, good to see you doing something else to your car at last!!

Looking good, I have done the same thing to my engine bay. I covered just about every pipe under there with the orange stuff. Needed 2 packs of it though to do all of it. Good luck with the working progress !!!

Thanks Kully, I had in mind originally to go black and silver, which I think possibly would have looked better. But at the moment, I'm happy with where I'm going with it at the moment....although I could always change it at a later date. Yeh, the pic's do look very orange and no, I didn't take any styling tips from Matt, although I seem to remember him saying that he used "red" paint on his engine which turned out...ahem!...errrr...very orange! lol Anyway, I've finally got my bum into gear and done something under the bonnet..Hurrrah!!!!! lol

Yeah I used Hammerite Red which looks a tad orange, more like the Red that old fire engines were painted in. Looks good Tim, not too OTT, perhaps the colour setting on your camera is wrong (if its a camera phone I know this can be a pain...see my autosport international thread) may i sugest you paint the letters red and keep the IMRC cover black though? just a thought.

Mine for comparison

Thanks Matt, the colour settings on my digital camera can't be changed, think it's because I used my flash, I should have turned it off. re: Colour of the front plastic cover - Uhmm...no mate, I have already made plans of what it's going to look like, although will be slightly similar to yours it will be different again...wait and see ;-)

Aha :) thought the red and black would go well with your set up. Bit too much Red on mine need something like a cover to tone it down a bit, thats why I wouldn't mind a Carbon fibre engine cover, similar to the alloy ones some people have.

Have re-thought the IMRC cover, think I will actually spray it black and do red and silver lettering, as looked at the pic's again last night and found a) it will be difficult to match the "Hammerite Red" colour with a spray can and b) As you said Matt - a bit too much red, seeming as the airbox will eventually be red. Thanks for the comments though :)

Just my opinion Tim but, i would leave the black bits black, and concentrate on the red trim etc. Just my opinion mate. Feel free to shoot me down

Yeh, know what you mean Al, was just trying to get it looking a little different from the norm. I know the IRMC cover is already black plastic, but want to go for a shiny black to match the UIM, hence why I'm thinking about spraying it. As for the airbox cover - well unless you can come up with a sticker to cover the entire top (red background with a black cougar head), then think the only other thing I can do is to paint it red. Damn! just realised I haven't given you the measurements....I'll do it now...hang on...lol
