Hi all

Lunchtime so I decide to tackle blocking off the EGR valve to cure the surging & jerking at low speed
Being a ham fisted idiot I’ve gone and completely snapped the green pipe in two...

So...being a little concerned I take her out for a little spin, got it completely warmed it up and.....

All is fine o_O

Drives really smoothly now and is exactly what I was expecting I not have been such a clot and broken it
So...my question is...

Need I be worried about the broken pipe, or will it be ok?

Thanks, Steve

Is that not the pipe most people close off with a screw if disconnecting rather than removing the EGR valve. If that is the case you could save yourself some work and just trim the end off the pipe to leave it square and then bung it up.

yup that's the one

thinking about it I suspect blocking it off is probably the answer, just seems odd to me that it works fine like that

I did EXACTLY the same! Stuck a BB in the end anyway to block the top, and then bunged up the pipe with a screw (I think). Taped the whole thing up and forgot all about it.

yeah that fits the later ones did away with the EGR system entirely

does that mean you have a blank surplus to requirements  :D

was going to get one myself, send that sucker over to me if you like and I'll give you back what you paid for it, that way you're not out of pocket!

PM me if you're interested

I think the defining characteristic between the two engine sizes is the location of the belt tensioner irrespective of the presence of an IACV*; rear bank for the big engine and front bank for the smaller one.

So says the owner of a C1.5 without an IACV* but with the tensioner on the rear bank.:)

*For IACV read EGR.

I'm sure you meant to say EGR not IACV Andy?
