Abandoned Cougar in my street - can I have it?!

you don't know how true that is, not too clear from the pic but there's no way you could get a fire appliance down here now.
Bin day tomorrow, that'll be fun!

Apropos of that, I'm told that fire engines and ambulances are allowed to ram whatever they need to, in order to get to a fire or medical emergency.

I'd never suggest that somoene call in a fake fire just to get a car out of the way - frankly I think that'd be a major dick move, not to mention illegal and waste of their time - but I've always wanted to see it happen, since inconsiderate people park in this road like that too.

Borrow some car dollies and drag it into the middle of the road then call the council advising them of a blocked road and they'll tow it or if you've got enough mates just bounce it over :D

Id go for a nice car jack lift the rear just off the deck and you can drag it into the road as the front wheels will move if its a manual and is not left in gear.

Failing that I would like to think some nasty person might leave big nails resting against all 4 wheels so when this idiot drives off whoops 4 new tyres please

To be fair, this might be someone who has parked on the public highway like he's allowed to. An ass possibly, inconsiderate almost certainly.

But I wouldn't mess with someone else's car unless absolutely I had to.

What a shame that knobends are allowed to own Cougars though. :stop:

Worse Al it's both!
Arse is right over and the ns wheel is just on the path, so in fact it's blocking the path AND the road!

All these *VW cars are Chelmsford registered Tim, and there are quite a few of them.
mine is T267 VVW, Add's is very close to mine too 220 VVW off the top of my head.
Think the XAV cars show up as Chelmsford too

EDIT: just checked, *AV is Peterborough.

-AR is one of Chelmsford's though. :):EDIT:: By which I mean the codes are not contiguous and don't seem to make any sense). Amusingly, -OO is Colchester, so I used to see cars rolling around with MOO and POO on their plates.

Cougar now gone....wierd

You'll probably never know whose it was or why it was there... But I once had a colleague's Beemer in my garage to stop his wife's new boyfriend from smashing it up. o_O

Maybe someone just needed to get it out of the way for a couple of days. They could've been more considerate about though.

I stand to be corrected but 'OO is also a Chelmsford suffix. There will be a fair proportion of Chelmsford regs. attached to Cougars, and any other Ford for that matter, as it's the nearest reg. office to Dagenham. Certain levels of Ford management get/got a new car every six months which kept the registered new cars ticking over and produced a steady stream of new nearly vehicles for the Ford Direct scheme.
As Cougars were notoriously slow sellers and the dealers nationwide therefore didn't take too many of them I would imagine many of them went down the 'factory' route.

Just checked and I'd agree it's chelmsford too, being a former Essex boy I remember seeing loads of moos and poos!

Unless you confirmed you are the owner how did you check?

It could be on a multi car policy or a trade policy...they do not show up on the data base.

Has someone actually rung the police?

Multicar policy and trader insurance do show up on the database now ;) ...
At least all the cars I insure they are always on the DB a few days later

Only just saw this...

I seem to remember being told that Colchester was/is run as an offshoot of the Chelmsford DVLA office, even though it did have its own specific codes (including 'OO'). So officially the cars were from Chelmsford - and that's how they were documented - but they were physically registered in Colchester. That could be complete rubbish though and I can't find anything solid that supports it.

On the other hand...this source isn't exactly official, but it does back up what we've both said, (about 3/4 of the way down the page). 'OO' is Chelmsford, but Colchester isn't mentioned anywhere in that list, even though it does have a DVLA office, (or certainly did in 1998).

I'll happily concede I was probably misled though. :)
