After 4 weeks of ownership, I'm afraid she'll have to go :-(

Hi Mr Scunny! I replied to your post yesterday but for some strange reason the entire post didn't appear. I looked on here later on last night and it wasn't there! Perhaps I didn't hit the right button to post it, I dunno, I'm not very good with technonlogy. Thanks for you very kind offer, I will speak to you about it maybe next week because I really don't have time until then plus I'm away for acouple of days, a massive **** up with the lads from work, I've got to squeeze 4 of us into the Cougar and as you know it's a tight fit!! It would be nice to have a second opinion from somebody who is familiar with the cars, I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with it, I should add that I'm a fully qualified engineer and have been in the motor trdae for over 25 years, but I don't know anything about Cougars!

I think the book figure pressure for standard sized tyres was 29psi at the rear if not loaded to the gunwals. That would make a difference from 34psi at the rear which I think was the 4-up doing 100+ figure?

Yeah, stock tyres 32psi front and 29psi rear. Worth a punt before getting rid. Ride never an issue on mine but I guess it's what you're used to.:)

tyres are probablyknackered running at those pressures

but 34 is also too high for std 215's try 30 qfront 28 back it should feel massively different

It would be interesting to see the wear pattern on the fronts - especially if they are actual Cougar stock tyres, instead of "near-enough" replacements.

Thanks guys. I will drop the tyre pressures tomorrow, I have run Vauxhall Omegas for the past 10 years and they too are super sensitive to tyres and pressures. Too much pressure in the fronts make the car tramline like crazy and budget tyres are a no no.

Me too :-( I've had 3 of them, my last one was written off in accident, I miss it dearly. I'm looking for another one now, been to view a handful but haven'y found a nice enough one yet.

Problem is like the Cougar, they're an old motor now and the good ones are hard to find but they are there. My mate has an immaculate Mk1 with the Mk2 dash. It's the Exec one they did and had everything on it. It's like new because he's never skimped on anything and always tried to buy OEM parts for it. Only thing non standard are the wheels. He's got some stunning split rims BBS wheels on it in a 19".

One of only a few cars I've owned over the years, and I've had A LOT of cars, that I'd buy again if I found the right one.

As much as I'm pathologically indifferent to Vauxhall's existance, I do/did like the Omega. I thought the dashboard desing and lighting was pretty dull, but that's my only criticism. Big, comfortable, fairly competent a performer (esp in 3.0 or 3.2 form) and pleasant handling. Hard to fault really!

Agree with Jamie about the dash and thanks Rik!! Elite is the trim I was trying to think of! The reason my mate ha the Mk1 with the Mk2 dash is that it had the usual LCD display failure and an issue with the HVAC. On the Omega forum, someone had recently done the swap to include the newer switching and HVAC controls etc so he decided the later dash was the only thing he liked off the newer models and got one. He has some imported Holden tail lights for it which are all red with a slight tint and it has the early Xenon headlights so not the standard yellow looking things lol.
