Not been on here for a while - then found out why I couldn't when I tried! Cougar.club is a good new name.

Anyway, we appear to have bought a caravan. The only car to pull it is the Cougar as I don't fancy the Capri's brakes! Ordered a Tow Trust bar which I'll have a go at fitting when it arrives next week. The seller is being good enough to tow it to our house this weekend seeing as I've not got the equipment.

Have never even towed a trailer before - so there may be trouble ahead, or more precisely, behind!

Towbar fitting - 1 hour
Electrical connections - 1 week probably...........!
Gearbox life - TBC.

Cant wait!

They are much maligned mate but I towed one regularly for a few years with a Passat and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just make sure you have more weight in the car than the 'van, and if you do get the dreaded 'tail wag', ease off the throttle, DON'T brake! Have fun!

Al, no, not received anything. Not sure if my settings are correct for being notified actually.

As for trying towing, I think i may go straight to my work place one Sunday as there's a massive EMPTY (<important word, that...empty) car park!

Just checked, settings are to receive emails - should i have had one regarding the new domain?

Towbar has arrived, nuts and bolts part looks fine/easy. The electrics bit though............we shall see! Also, i think the bar weighs more than the caravan. Really!

It is - need the fridge to cool beer en route! Worst bit seems to be getting a live from the fuse box to the relay at the back. Away for work for a few nights so it'll have to wait for the weekend before electrocuting myself!

I cheated a bit when I rigged-up a Maverick with twin electrics and ran the live from the battery under the car using the spare brake-pipe clips to keep it out of harms way.
The lamp wiring was quite straightforward as it was a 'dedicated' kit which plugged into the original wiring loom.

Hahahahahahaha this is ironic, Tiller owners migrating into wendy houses pmsfl, i've bought a wendy house too lol had a towbar for ages for dragging trailers with bikes on lol but currently tarting up the wendy house and hoping to drag it over to fest, i've had a couple of trial runs and it does ok, just need to add the second socket

What are the two sockets for, Tony? External power (lights) and internal power? Something else?

Not that I'm thinking of getting one - where would I keep it? - just out of interest.

Thats spot on mate, the one you have to have does the trailer lights and the second means you can have the fridge working on the move, so your beer is cold when you arrive(y)
And if you're wondering how I know....................:giggle:

Been a year in the making though, on and off looking at them. Wont be using it till june at the earliest as got lots on. Plus I'll never get it back up the drive!
Tiller is currently up for sale after 12 years owning it, deliberated over it for a while, but it is going. Bought a Rocket 3 for the comedy value engine - and comfort....!

Not the tow car however - positioned it for effect!
