The car will be up for it's MoT beginning of April and my mind is turning to that now. I know already the wishbones will have to be replaced and I think droplinks also. Undoubtedly the brakes will need doing also( I have discs and pads put by) and maybe some other small stuff. Now providing I have no rust issues ie; the dreaded subframe, should I spend out getting the parts and paying for them to be done(how much is likely to cost) or should I look for another which already has 12 Months MoT. With the price cougars go for these days buying another is definitely an option, but you get used to the one you have don't you? If I was handy with a car I would get the parts and sort out the one I have, but my only option is to pay out for the parts to be fitted and that's another lump on top of the cost of the parts. What to do?

Up to you of course but my tuppence is better the devil you know unless you're carrying serious issues. Secondly, although values are low, treating these rare cars as disposable will just dwindle the numbers you see on the roads ever faster. Personally, I wouldn't scrap a car over a pair of wishbones - I think that's pretty environmentally irresponsible. I see little point in taxing carbon emissions and segregating recyclable waste to minimise landfill then throw away a perfectly useable car over a pair of bolt on parts costing a couple of hundred quid. But that's just me.
I have to agree with Jamie, Maurice, no way would i bin a car for a pair of wishbones, nor for any amount of mechanical W&T parts for that matter, but i suppose i'm slightly privelidged in that i can do my own work. See what the early or pre-mot brings .
I wasn't saying I would be scrapping it per say, rather I would get another to replace it. With the wishbones being 250+ and other items needed, the labour cost is going to be the deciding factor, assuming nothing is rusting away. If it was just a matter of replacing the wishbones and I could get the things needed done at reasonable cost! then I would go for getting it through another MoT. Well I have some time before I make up my mind on this, will take a look around it to see if rust might be an issue (when the weather gets better) thanks for your input guys, tis appreciated.
Maurice, I can sort out your brakes if needed ( FOC ). When I have a look over your car last it looked pretty solid underneath so I would put it in and see how it goes. It is a good car and you know this already.

Hi Peter, thanks for that. Hope everything is well with you mate. Certainly if rust isn't an issue ansd the labour costs are within my grasp, then I would like to keep this one going. I've looked at other cars and can't see anything I like TBH.
That's always an issue! The wishbones aren't that bad a job to do, and improve the drive too so you feel where your money's gone. Better than chopping the car for a car probably as aged but with a longer ticket
