The grinding stopped after driving for a long period. I took it for it's inspection and it passed but he told me that the suspension arms are worse and are getting into the more serious part of wear.
I can't see this being the wishbones, whether they want replacing or not.
Surely - if it persists after the first couple of brake applications - it's got to be the CV joints? It might even sort itself out after its run for a while and the grease heats up and spatters around.
I agree as above, but only just getting inti this thread, i had similar symptoms a while back (or at least my car did) .
The car ran fine in straight lines and even on steady slow turns, but hard cornering or slow 90% turns would throw out a horrible groaning noise which turned out to be a seized front droplink.
