Back Again!

Looks like I've been had :(

Noticed a bang when giving the car a good thrashing when changing gears... Dropped it to 4 went down to 30 took the foot off the gas and then floored it and what do you know... Nasty bang noise like engine or a gearbox mount... Sigh!

My own fault completely :(

You've only had it just over a week and paid a premium price for it so I would take it back and see what they have to say, it may help if you can locate the problem so that you can hit them with the facts so that they don't try and soft soap you.

And nothing is your fault mate, it can happen to anybody.

mine made a nasty bang when slaming the throttle down when i got it.
was a simple fix though ,just an exhaust mount broke near the fuel tank causing the exhaust to bang on the floor when accelerating hard..
id check yours and see.
but dude go easy on her ,she may be a barn find but shes still 13 years old, i wouldnt dare redline mine...
oh and hello ,welcome back(y)

Welcome:cool: If its as good as you say it is don't be handing it back. Good ones are hard to find.

Hi, thanks for the comments, I don't think it's the exhausts, I'll take it down to halfords or quick fit and act stupid and see what they have to say and get them to print off a quote for the work.

More hassle! They will probably tell me to jog on even though its been so short a time. Taking it to a small claims court will cost more than the fixing!

Sale of Goods Act

An item has to be in a fair and resonable condition and be free from fault at the point of sale.

You can quite clearly show that it is faulty and 'fair and resonable' in terms of time frames is taken to mean 6 months.

First, verball ask them to fix it.

If they refuse, ask them to refund you.

If they refuse put it in writing and leave the car on their property - thus 'refusing' the item and take them to small claims court.

You don't necessarily get anything, however, one would expect the car to be in good condition and without faults from the point of sale for a reasonable period of time, and that's more than nine days or so.
