The bright red light on the right is the handbrake. But you're right, the ABS light (amber, in between the speedometer and the fuel guage) is also lit.

The engine is running in that pic, so I would guess there's a fault on the system.
 
182k miles! I see a lot of high milers around, Cougars must be fairly solid to get those to those sorts of figures so often.

What's the record mileage for the club, anyone know? :)

Highest I've seen confirmed is over 200,000 miles. Rumour has it that there's one out there that cracked 250,000 miles last year.

Cool, there's a few in there around 200k. Impressed and nice to know there's plenty of miles in my 71k car, although I imagine rust will get her first.

Sad fact of the day: At 30mpg and £1.30 a litre.... you're talking £40,000 in petrol to do 200k in a Cougar.

It doesn't have to if you take the time and effort, Jack. At the end of the day it's just metal. My newest is a 100k miler that's about to hit the road again as good as new after tin-worm nearly got the better of her.

True though that may be, with all respect I refuse to look at it that way. I'd rather spend 40 grand in a car I love than 20 grand in a car I tolerate - and which probably won't even make it that far through built-in obsolescence.

But to be fair, I'm a bit of a dinosaur. ;)

My old mondeo done over 350k on a 2.0l zetec. It was a organ transplant car. So serviced at fords every 8 weeks reguardless of miles and cost.

No apology necessary. I love a good hijack. Keeps the thread going! The mileage is a great subject, I've been looking at another eBony for £700 but that had 182k..the same mileage that my last engine packed in. I will definitely be buying one sub 100k. There's still plenty to be had out there.
