Curious if anyone has these BC Racing coilovers or have had them before... Curious on the extra parts for installing with no directions on where or what they are.... I assume the tophat section.

Never seen these before and have no idea of the spec, but yes, the upper cups and bearings would be needed at least. I'd want to get hold of a spare set of Cougar bits and try a test fit.

My primary concern (other than length and whether the Cougar bits even fit) is whether there is enough clearance all round.

Mondeo and Cougar rear struts are different. The Cougar ones have an indentation on the outboard side to allow the wheel to clear them.

Of course I don't know the actual diameter of these, so that may not be an issue.

You will need to modify them to fit the Cougar and then you will need to have your alignment checked as they may through your offset out completely meaning your go through tyres like a drift team, also you may find that you cant balance the car correctly using them, Suspension is one of the hardest parts to modify safely and within the correct tolerances for the car, you will find the Mcpherson struts the Cougar comes with are superior to any other struts allegedly designed for the cougar, even the Eibach Sport Damper kit that was available and used in the touring car Cougars used the standard strut just with a minor modification to the hydraulic damper fluid. When all is said and done though it is your car and moddifying is a personal taste thing so good luck with it and i look forward to seeing photo's of it (y)

Mondeo and Cougar struts upto 2000 are the same even the rears (koni adjustables) the C1 got a face lift (small changes) and then the C2 came along which uses a different rear strut to the mondeo MK 2.

This is my understanding of it, Koni adjustables I've swapped off a Mondeo V6 mk2 and fit to a C1 with no issues :)

What exactly needs modifying on them Paul?
And what offset would be affected by fitting coilovers into the existing setup? Camber angle maybe but that would become adjustable.
I'm only asking as i can get these through CATFabs and would like to pass on any expert first hand knowledge to any prospective buyer.

You would need to fit some and do a comparison test with a standard setup to answer the questions Mart, my point is that the Cougar had millions spent aligning all the suspension parts to work in unison for a combination of comfort, handling and longevity, even just adding lowering springs makes a big change to how other parts of the suspension react, adjusting the rear subframe bolts by a milimeter can have drastic effects on the wear of the tyres, a suspension system that is not designed specifically for the cougar and has a different fitment by design will need to be modified to accept the top mounting bracket of a standard suspension damper, there may not be any issues but from an engineering point I would be suprised if there aren't

These are pretty much direct replacement minus getting the desired height and dampening, got the specs over from the manufacturing on them for help with future guys installing them. Assmebled them already and installing in the next day or so. Cheers
