Well, I went to check out the C2 and had to (painfully) walk away due to the fact that there was no history on the timing belt being done. if it was just this, then I would have probably risked it, but I reckon the front wishbones might have been on their way out, and the subframe was rather rusty. There were a couple of other things too. So adding it all together meant that by the time I'd have had paid out for those my other half would prolly have me buried under the patio!!

Ah well, the hunt shall continue!

There's a black C2 for sale on here IIRC. Check out for sale ;)

yeah, I know mate. I saw that one, but unfortunately due to the fact I use my car for my work (and can't be without one), and our spare money being tied into the ferret rescue my other half and I run; my options are unfortunately somewhat limited to a swap!

Sorry to hear that matey, but you really didn't want a C2 anyway did you ;-) You know a C1 makes more sense! psml (ok, about to run and hide from the C2 owners!! lol).

Re: Subframes - mate a lot of cougs at around about 10 yrs suffer from surface rust, but they are solid underneath. Mine looks really rusty, but if you wire brush it, there's plenty of good metal underneath - going to waxoyl mine shortly.

Best of luck with your hunt for a nice V6...you just gotta love that roar!! lol

Ahem, and WildV6 mate, I love the interior of the C2...though I do prefer the exterior of the C1. My old ebony was lurrrrvely!

Yeh, must admit I also like the interior of the C2, that combined with a C1 would be the perfect match lol (y)

Ok, a revelation has just happened. I MAY be in line to get a frosty V6 on 115k...the owner said it needs a rear wheel bearing and two front tyres soon. The tyres I can handle (I won't be going with the odd size as I think others will fit - validate me someone!) , but what am I looking at for the bearing? Is it a full unit, or can I get just the bearing sorted?

Paynes charge £44.12 plus £6.75 postage for a genuine Ford front wheel bearing, I can't imagne that the rear would be vastly different in price. As for tyres, yes, you can fit non-standard tyres on the original 16" alloys. 225/50/16s fit just fine and are more widely available than the original 215/50/16s.

Or you could even try 215/55/16's - which I ran on my original alloys (which I still have), the speedo is out by 3-5mph, but nothing to really write home about.
