Discovered something new (to me anyway) about Cougars today..........

I cycled over to pick up one from garage, and yes, you can get a mountain bike in the back of a Cougar!

(must confess I did rehearse this first) !

I can literally hear peoples minds blowing when they see the boot of the Cougar :)

Good looking, sporty and practical?! I don't believe it!

(yeah, just don't try to fit normal sized humans in the back seats)

Still find it hard to understand that having a huge boot and space for two adults to sit in the back is a negative thing on a coupe, but thats what i have seen on a few revues by car mags and on the top gear report, we know Clarksons a bit of a nob but to say if i wanted a big boot i would buy an estate car is very daft, one of the reasons guys get rid of the sexy coupe is once you have a wife and two teens you need a car with more room, try putting a big supper market shop in the back of most coupes, or trip to the garden/DIY store or taking rubbish down the tip, the cougar does it all and looks great.

Ha! Amateur. I got a pair of them in a Mk3 Rover 200! Ironically, I would not get one in my Coug because I opted for a fixed rear strut brace!

Absolutely this. Why is it a bad thing to have a car that's enormous fun but also practical? We go to Costco and basically empty the shop. "Do we need paper towels?" "No, but get some anyway to stop the rest of the shopping sliding around in the back of the car."

yea i put stuff in this boot and loose it!

funny thing the previous owner of my car was a landscape gardener and used it like it was a pick up truck...still finding pea gravel in the chassis to this day:)

About 8 years ago, I moved house using little more than my Mondeo :)

The practicality aspect of Ford's coupes has certainly come along, my old Capri had trouble accommodating anything much deeper than a shoebox in the boot...

My clips came out no issues at all :)

I can't comment on the rarity of such a thing but it took me about 12 months to find one

I think the old cougar looks good with a couple of bikes on the roof lol

That's a +1 from me. It does everything (y)
Having now got an XK8, there is less room in the back seats and the boot is smaller, plus without fold down back seats you have no options for increasing boot space . . but I have an XK8 now, so I guess I learn to live with it :)

I bought a bike off eBay this weekend and I'm picking it up tonight, so I'll be testing out the Cougar's cycle-swallowing boot, can't see it going in the Audi!

I can hereby confirm that a full size road bike goes in the back of Cougar with no requirement to even take either of the wheels off or drop the saddle down. (y)
