You are right though. I had a chat with bobster the other day. My v6 is approaching 100k (rapidly) but the engine (apart from a slight IMRC fault) is running as sweet as a nut.
As he put it, the shell has done 100k but the engine has been so well maintained its better than many others with much lower mileage.
V6's should last for a good 200k+ if they are maintained regularly and fluid checks are made very often.
I had the laguna rti 16v with the volvo lump and only 90k on the clock and it never missed a beat and not a speck of rust on it anywhere. I was a fool as I let it go for £100 as it was sitting on my drive doing nothing, only to see it driving around the following week.
