My curiosity has overpowered my lack of knowledge. What was the last C1 (or C1.5) registered? Do we know? It just seems likely to me that there was a large overlap, especially for a car that struggled with sales like the Coug unfortunately did.

Or to put it another way, I reckon there's C1s registered well after the first C2s but I'm too lazy to che...er, thought it would be an interesting conversation.

Yup, my old C2 was an X reg too. As for the latest reg, I'm pretty sure I remember an '02' or '52' plate C1 doing the rounds - it had obviously been sat unregistered for some time!

According to ETIS Matt's C2 had a first registration date of: 03/01/2001.

Definitely a big overlap. My first C1 was first registered on 13 Mar 2001 on a 'Y' plate.

Wil Leaper's C1 beast that was Damo's is on a 51 plate.
My C2 is on a Y plate (12/07/2001) but it was built on 04/12/2000.

interesting stuff... yes, I guess it's basically down to build date rather than reg date, as you say so much 'overlap'.

So, when were first C1 and C2 built/ registered in UK ?!

the first batch of C1's, all S-XAV's were registered on 16/11/98 (not withstanding the 'R' reg one seen in some promotional videos.)

I've seen about three different R reg ones in magazine reviews prior to the official launch.

the R reg one that Clarkson tested (silver R*** HAR I think) was built quite early - April 98 iirc.

problem is due to the Cougar's popularity there was often a break between build date and registration date....

The owner of that car tried to sell it here at a premium, on the basis that it'd been driven by a famous journalist.
