Well, d-day has been and gone.

I have said elsewhere, but a lot of people gave up a lot of time to help me out and I really appreciate it.(y)

A lot of time and effort went into make cat2 into the car it was, and was really in stunning condition all things considered.

So, to see her reduced to a jagged lump of metal wasn't a nice experience I have to admit.

The day started at 9am, with Bobster coming straight off his night shift - mad head! But thanks dude!

Last to leave, Stribo - despite still having a four hour drive ahead of him, he was still here at 5pm.

On the plus side, cat3 now has front and rear strut braces from cat2 (thanks Mart).

I am also keeping the complete dash, centre console, hvac, shock absorbers and wishbones which will all be fitted to cat3.

New homes have already been found for a lot of the parts, but lots more still to go!
 
glad it went as you expected it. I finally got to bed around 9:30 pm so after a 12 hour night shift I had been awake for 29 hours :oops::oops:

I think Tony and Manos looked a bit concerned when they saw the "northen monkey" method of breaking a cougar engine. Although this being my 3rd cougar done this way I have found the correct places to cut and remove with an alligator saw so you can get to all of the engine.

And Mart........ one day you will let me get the gas axe out :LOL:
 
Oh... oh wow.

I could cry to see a car pulled apart like that, even though anything older than 2002 goes straight in the crusher now. They don't even bother to recover parts round here.

But the funeral procession of Frosties, (4th pic) was really amazing. What an awesome sight, and how fantastic that everyone pulled for you like it was the opposite of a barn-raising!
 
Sad day indeed, your face told a story Si, you looked as though you had been kicked in the guts.
Understandable though, it was a nice motor.

Rob, I'll let you play with Ali G and Das boot but the Blue spanner is for the big misters.. Maybe next time ;-)
 
Good to catch up with peeps, and finally meet Bobster, and meet Hip as well. The North was everything I expected, grey, cold, and the odd house with a scrap car out the front.:eek::eek::eek::eek::bomb:
 
I feel for you Si - I really do. You had to go through all that heart ache as to whether or not to try and save her but in the end you had to pull the plug.

But where one Cougar dies another one is reborn - saw Cat4 yesterday mate and she is coming on a treat - brought to life by the demise of Cat2.

As you know I've had to make a similar decision myself in relation to GG. Most people would say I'm mad trying to save her when I could easily buy an A1 cat if I did what you are doing + what I am about to spend on the rebuild but I just couldn't face going through what you are going through mate - so respect for having the strength to go through with it (y)
 
Cant something be done about resurecting a Cougar from the ruins? You now have a clean shell? (sell it to the guys who build the Ferrari copys)

I'm sure Alan has enough parts in the cave to re-build it again from scratch :( :( noooo

Steve good to meet you as well mate! not a bad bloke for a southern fairy :LOL: and just you watch out for any creme egg based incidents ;)

My sentiments exactly, a day of mixed emotions i think. Roll on the day cat4 rolls out of the BMHQ, put this memory behind you and relish in what cat2's donations helped to acheive.

Had another morning at the coug today....got the alternator off in one piece, so Everton will be happy.

Rear subframe is proving to be a pita. Got a few other odds and sods but the matrix is being a stubborn git too.

Having a bit more time at it tomorrow, then its off to the scrappers. £190 per tonne for whatever is left.
 
It's not something that I'd like to have to do, regardless of what modifications we have or what they cost, it's a big part of us that goes into fashioning the car into something that makes a statement about ourselves, I know from the past, when you have a car that you have spent a lot of time (and money) on, it's always hard to part with, even to sell it is hard, but to rip it apart must be harder to do.
 
I know it had to be done but it made me feel quite ill when i saw what was left! This comes into the category of something you would rather not know about.
