Latest update on the scrapper in Fife. Went down today to enquire about the leather and got quoted 100 pounds plus VAT, i.e. 120 quid. I have seen it previously so promptly told him to stick it. Asked about other parts from the dashboard etc. and got quoted 30 quid for dials, 40 quid for HVAC complete with all switches, 10 quid for headlight surround complete with switch, 30 quid for each alloy wheel complete with tyre and 10 quid for the dashboard top panel with 3 air vents. All these prices had to have VAT added.
I asked the guy where he gets his prices from and he basically said that he just makes them up as he goes. Don't you have specific guidelines for pricing parts so that everyone can benefit. Oh no, some cars are rarer than others, you don't expect to get a starter motor for a Ferrari for 20 quid do you. My answer to that little snippet of useless information was YES I would. You pay around 150 quid for a scrap car regardless of what make, model or condition it is. When this place first started up you advertised ridiculously low prices for parts regardless which car they were from, now, like everything else, your prices have rocketed.
I then asked him about the headlights that Cortina Dave got for a tenner each and he said that he would not have got them at that price from him.
I believe it's just your donald duck who serves you when you go to this place. When I asked about the leather I only said I was looking for a set of seats. He then asked what car? When I said a Cougar, he then asked if it was leather or cloth. He obviously knows his cars.
