iv managed to get hold of a st200 engine pickin it up next week just need to fit inlet manifold and throttle body. im not to sure weather to keep my old gearbox as its ok or fit both the engine and the gearbox from the st200?

I think the ST200 gearbox has a different gear ratio, I am not 100% but i am sure someone will be along to confirm this... So may be best to fit a ST200 box with the engine..

i wasnt sure if thay had the same gearbox or not it probly would be best to keep the 2 together. do u know of any other gearbox that would fit and increase performance or is it a bit risky?

what you tried so far? i wana try something diffrent. im thinking i should do what i can whilst the engines out to give it that bit extra so it saves time and money at a later date

Not much on mine, it runs fine right now, I have ST200 inlet manifolds and K&N filter, Blueflame exhaust twin exit, and just a few cosmetic mods... but if and when my engine goes bang i will be going the ST220 route ... :p

St220 bit's won't fit without loads of modification, it's completely different inlets etc.. The only way is ST200 inlets and throttle body or drop either a ST200 engine in or a ST220 one,(the ST220 only recently successful) if you sign up and pay your subs there is a world of information on all this in the forum, try doing a search anyway it's been covered loads over the past 5 + years... I would guess (it is only a guess) that the gearing on a 200 is slightly higher in each gear to allow for the higher torque of the 200 so acceleration should be slightly better with a standard cougar ratio box.

When I did my setup I went for the whole package so it was all st parts , In my thinking any diference ford made to the box was to be in keeping with the st power curve its a very 2 strokey engine in my thinking ie all poke is up top .

You'll be needing the ST ECU too. Is the inlet manifold supplied with it? Just wondering why you'd have to fit it if the engine and box have been dropped out as one. That's assuming that it's a proper ST lump. Been seen before where someone has been sold a standard engine with cam covers and UIM painted black to look like and ST.

Apparently there's a way to tell by the engine number IIRC.

im getting it of RACEBITS on here. i think someone bought the inlet manifold and throttle body and the engines in the car still. do u think it will be ok i trust the guys on here i would been a bit unsure if its on ebay.

So you're buying a whole car and need to get a UIM? Ok.....

I didn't know the car was coming from Shaun, and my post was purely advisory having seen people away from here an on here think they've bought something and ended up with a lemon.

Good luck with it and on sourcing the bits you need to complete your engine :)
