Well not technically a new owner, but thought it best to live in here. I've been trawling the internet for a new cougar (My 3rd) for 2 weeks now. Preloved, Gumtree, Autotrader, eBay etc etc.

I'm up in Newcastle and I've found there's not many cougars up here especially meeting my requirements! This means that I'll probably be choosing, and committing to buy before I even travel and view, well not committed but obliged after travelling so far. If I find one local, then even better. Anyway, I was hoping I could use this thread to get advice on whether to buy or not. Here's my criteria. Feel free to shoot me down for being to ambitious / delusional

1999 / 2000 / 2001
2.5 V6, Black (xpack preferred)
< 150k
MOD + Tax
Decent body condition
£700 (including travel from and back to Newcastle)

I'm not too fussed about anything else, to be honest. I have a decent cat already (engine died) and I plan to transplant parts off. The main thing I'm looking for is bodywork, and that usually goes hand in hand with mileage.

There are lots out there mate, but think it maybe a tall order to find one with less than 100k for the type of money you are looking at. I bought mine almost 5 years ago with one owner and full history (not Xpack) and I paid £1500 back then. Ok, since then coug's have become much cheaper, but you tend to find those with low mileage will go for more than £700. Good luck with your hunt.
 
Thanks, yeah I know I'll be bloody lucky to find <100k really, but it definitely has to be below 150k, but bodywork is paramount. What do you think of that 3rd one?

The hunt is definitely on.

Comes with a bonnet scoop (Visteon?), alternative sidelight clusters (US spec rears or side repeaters?) and smooth grille (No Limits). Red calipers too and fried eggs removed - wonder if this is a club car?
 
It also has the late C1 silver handbrake button but an early cassette/radio(rocker switch instead of knob for volume control).

Couldn't find that user, and given up trying to call that dealer. V6 AMX would be a great plate. I've spoken to number #5, he had an offer of £1200 but they didn't didn't show. I can only pay £800.

Dar, thanks I've been watching that on. It was on a week ago and went for £601! I'll buy for that price. Great milage, few repairs ... but that grill. :S Does anyone know, will a Rouche bodykit (side skirts) fit onto a C2?


Going to Edinburgh to save a 1999 X-pack Ebony from the scrap heap this morning. My head is telling me no but the price is as cheap as it comes. It's going to be a doo-er upper that's for sure!
 
Well, I bought that C2 yesterday. All the way from Grimsby. Lots that needs fixed, and I've got lot's planned in the way of modifications so it's going to be a busy month. Once I'm done transplanting, I'll scrap the rest of my other Ebony. Even tho I need all of the below sorted, it still feels like I got a bargain. Thanks for all the help. The hunt is over, now begins the real graft.

2001 C2 V6 10 months MOT, 5 months Tax, 1 owner from new 58k

Repairs Needed

Key Fob not working
Driver Side won't lock / unlock.
Trip computer resetting when ignition off.
HVAC won't cease blowing
Driver side fog light broken
Passenger Seat won't lift forward
Interior Lights don't work.
HVAC controls not illuminated
