Just had the cougar in for an MOT all passed but 600 quid lighter, my mates a mechanic and has done a massive amount of work on it, if it wasn't for him doing the work for me as a homer then the poor thing would of been scrap,

I have had to get 2 full sills welded in, some welding below the drivers door, hand brake cable, new front springs, new flexi pipe on exhaust new brake pipes all round, new front brake pads, he even wax oiled the underside and cleaned out all the discs and brakes calipers, plus repaired the fuel filler bracket that was broken.

I have been trying to get to the bottom of an ABS problem for nearly two years and after getting him to replacing a broken rear ring and then a dead front sensor at 8 oclock last night with the mot booked in for this morning we discovered the ABS modulator had died so a quick re-wire behind the dash the ABS light has been wired into the low fuel warning light so it comes on and goes off as it should not an ideal solution but passed the mot.

I have now got the cougar back to how it should be and have got all the corrosion sorted out so really chuffed

Nice one on the MOT pass (y)

Mine needed a small bit of welding on one of the sills for the MOT. Think I may have to give the underneath a good once over next year when the weather improves.....can of waxoyl at the ready

Yeah I'm planning to get the ABS done properly just need to source a new modulator, My mate got hold of some 1.2mm steel and got it cut and shaped to fit he has done a cracking job, there had been some patching done lover the last few years by a garage with tin plate and it had rotted already so he ripped the whole lot out both sides and done the job properly he said it wasn't to bad a job to do took him a couple of evenings to do all the welding. I'm just glad the actual floor pan is solid it just seems to be the sills that are pretty weak on the cougar.

Just as I repair one car the wife decides to put the focus over a small wall and rip the passenger sill to bits below the door so that will be another car off to him to get a sill welded in and resprayed

Yeah he definatley did flamenco I get him to do most of the work that I can't handle I did think about breaking it but coudn't do it, if I had to put it into a garage then it woudn't of been repairable
