Hi everyone, completely randomly just bought a cougar, it popped up for sale which seemed like a bargain of a car for what you get!
I had in my head that I would like a v6 and a coupe then I saw it yesterday and I was quite impressed with the ride
Anyhoo I know nothing about fords, im a bit of a honda/bmw fan usually so ive came here for some helpful info on what I need to be looking for in these
I had a quick look on parkers site at the owner reviews and everyone seems to love them! and it says good things about the engine

I have no idea why I bought it! It has no history, swirl marks and scrapes everywhere, it was reading 19mpg but something said yes! I think the something was coming from the exhaust, oh god what have I done, please tell me i have been wise guys!!

I have no pictures but instead I posted a link to where it was for sale, and I got it for much less I haggled him to £800 bit the difference could be easily paid out on bodywork if I wanted it mint

also the one below is it worth buying this for seats and parts??

Hi Mate

19 MPH is if you drive with lead boots or only do trips of a couple of miles. Generally these babies average about 25 - 32 depending who you talk to and how you drive (you can get 38 or more if your at a constant 50mph for any length of time.

No history! - service her quickly Oil change (must be 5w-30 and may be worth having a new sump plug ready), oil filter, air filter, pollen filter and fuel filter.

If i remember rightly black paint is the easiest to repair

Most of us have said yes with these cars as they are a great drive and the V6 rumble is awesome - like any car they have their problems but the good far outweigh the bad and there is a massive amount of knowledge in this site well worth subscribing

Hello and welcome aboard mrbing. Well done firstly for buying a Coug, despite the lack of any service history, but as ggsumo above has mentioned, get her serviced immediately!! Secondly black (Ebony) is great when it is washed, polished and gleeming but can be a pig to keep clean lol!! re: Swirls in the paintwork - no worries, there are some really great products on the market you can use to get rid of them. The following link is to what I have used and continue to use on my Ebony Coug:

Good luck with her! and enjoy her! Cheers, Tim

Welcome to the club mate

Biggest problem for these cars now due to age is front and rear drop links and wishbones so give em a quick once over

Welcome to the forum Mrbing, as for buying the second Cougar for the interior & parts, you can find a decent leather interior for a decent price if you shop around and keep your eyes open, and unless you have somewhere to store all the parts just source them as and when you need them (y)
