In a dream world
Heres a weird one....

Checking my zetec throught Fords etis programme it states that my cat is supposed to have 3 options fitted

1: electric tilt/slide sunroof which it has (it doesn't slide anymore :( only tilts)

2: Heated washer jets errm these appear to be AWOL no wires hanging out the bottom of washer jets

3: Heated front screen errm this also appears to be AWOL but after 13 years i can understand the screen has obviously been replaced as no Ford logo anywhere to be seen, but the oddest thing is the dash switch and heated screen relay are no longer in there respective places very odd indeedy :cautious:

The heated screen being AWOL is something which is being rectified in the not to distant future as i'm in the process of obtaining the misssing/required parts, so come next winter i won't have to spend ages scraping the screen :)

Might have had a new/used bonnet fitted at some point? Had the jets in already maybe?

Sunroof will be a fix on the rails I'm guessing and the heated screen is a weird one?

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that a previous owner may have flogged the switch and relay for the heated screen...

I've got a pair of heated jets you can have for the postage.
You'll need the loom extension from the rear edge of the bonnet though as it's only the jets and their 'tails'.

The heated washer-jets is a new one for me - that would be very useful as we routinely get winter temps of -12C or lower (lowest this winter was -21C, but two years ago we hit -27C).
How easy to retro-fit this and how would it be activated? Same control as the heated windscreen maybe (which is supposed to also activate the heated mirrors, if fitted)...?

It's the rear screen that controls the heated mirrors and the heated washer jets are activated when the ignition is turned on.
Retro-fit is easy enough as there should be an un-used plug near the passenger-side bonnet hinge. You need the loom from that plug which goes across the rear edge of the bonnet under the felt lining and the two jets with their wire tails and plugs.

If I can find that plug and locate a wiring-loom to bridge across, you may have a sale...assuming you still have the washer-jets.

*Edit* - OK there's no 'unused' plug at that location - there's a small one with two 'pins' which carries wires across to both washers.

*edit-edit* so apparently I already have heated nozzles on the new Cat... which is nice - now I just have to find a way of warming up the feeder tubes in the winter - even undiluted screen-wash (supposedly rated down to -30C) stays frozen in the tubes until the engine compartment is fully hot.
One winter I forgot to add the undiluted washer fluid early enough and the expanding block of ice inside the reservoir pushed the feeder tube off the bottom - you can't access it unless you raise the car off the ground.

I've got a switch bank with the heated front screen switch. Not sure about the Relay though, will have to have a rout about in the grage.

Thank you for the offer of the switch, but i've just bought a brand new one for £25.00, but i'll take the offer of the relay if you can find it please bud,

Yep, no doubt there. I've checked my Focus and it says it has all sorts of gismo's that my car actually hasn't actually got lol!!!!!

How strange, got the dash switch today for the heated screen, just need a relay then i think my insurance will need calling about a nasty chip in the windscreen

Good luck with that: those heated screens are about £1500 IFAIK - your insurance may decide a 'plain' screen is all your policy covers as it may effectively put the car beyond economical repair...

pretty sure that w/screen company's only stock/replace with heated to save on costs of keeping both in stock atvarious places all over the country due to small demand

think you need 2 relays, or is it just 2 fuses 1 for each side

Heated Screen

Yep the screen from Ford is about £1300 + vat, so what ever my excess (£50-75) on a screen replacement is a bit of a no brainer, but "IF" they won't wear it, i guess i'll have to forget it.

Checked the fuse box yesterday in an idle moment and the 2 (30amp) fuses are in situ, and as they don't seem to do anything else but the screen, i'm assuming the heated screen was replaced at some point with a standard one and the dash switch removed .... how very odd  probably as you say because who ever had the car when it was done didn't have sufficent windscreen cover.
