That's why I started the other thread for people to make their list to say they've paid, jason acknowledged that all those listed had paid, the list above has had various members sporadically adding 'Paid' to the list by the side of their names. I suggest that the other list should be the official one since JJ has validated it. Anybody who has paid and wishes it to be acknowledged should maybe visit that thread. (as you already have Dick iirc)

COME ON PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is looking like the last fest as after the grief last year and the lack of commitment this year again I can't see it being viable for next year! Be a real $-hitter if that happens as this is THE ONLY event worth pulling the stops out for - FACT!!!!

I could lose faith in this place if fest goes off the calendar!! It's not the end of the world in terms of money, as tight as it is for so many of us, but you WILL NOT get a better weekend away for less!​

This year only went ahead as last year really seemed like everyone enjoyed it and so many on seeing the pictures seemed keen this year.

This is certainly the last " official" fest from next year I think it will be more a "I'm going camping anyone else want to come" affair.

Securing Grendon sorting hire of fridge/BBQ/marquee is a pita and for the few that are committed to coming I doubt those facilities not being there will matter certainly doesn't bother me I like camping regardless.

You could always have a NATIONAL DAY of sorts next year at one of the big shows, we know most of them have camping etc.

I know we don't do things like the Yanks or the Europeans, but maybe just maybe thats the point of us being British (bet you thought I was gonna say, "well maybe we should"):whistle:


perhaps next year we could invade Europe and join the Germans/french at their Euro-Cougarfest....it looks a very BIG event

Maybe we should have it in the North that would guarantee a big turn out :devilish::devilish::devilish:

? I'm sure there are plenty of people who would like to go but simply can't, not necessarily for financial reasons but simply because they already have prior commitments at that time, such as work or long-booked family holidays. I certainly fit that category this time around but would like to do 'fest one year, I'm pretty confident that I'm not the only one.

I appreciate that booking the venue and facilities has an associated cost and that 'x' amount of attendees are needed to recoup that cost, but applying the blanket assumption of 'lack of commitment' is perhaps a little blinkered.

Perhaps if the costing figures were published, together with a "Guys, we need 'x' amount of people coming to make this viable or unfortunately it can't go ahead" post might be The Way Forward for next year?
 
By reading the associated threads to fest the answer would be found, and something that is outlined every year, the requirement has always been around 30 cars. Out of 1000+ registered users and over 300 subscribers, thats a lot of people that have a lot of notice and time to organise things. Not all shows fall on everyone's day off. If we only take the subscriber figure and say that only 20 people have paid out of 300 odd that pay for full access to the forum, that's than 10%!! If less than I in 10 people is gonna commit then is it even worth the extra effort that is needed for us to organise it all just to bloody cancel it?? These are repeat arguments that are posted each year by those that don't come for whatever reason. It's always easy to defend those who like you aren't coming. When alls said, it's about those that do show up and keep the events going. Not saying in any way that people don't have commitments etc, that's fine, but surely out of 300 people, even just 20% showing would be awesome wouldn't it?? That'd give us 60 cars!! Wouldn't that be something?

Alongside those who have prior commitments etc there are also too many that pick and poke at pointless arguments to make themselves feel better. They are the ones who ruin it as the second there is an event that's on their doorstep or that they are involved in, they're all over the forum like a bloody rash!!

Never gonna win them all I know that, but a handful out of hundreds is a piss poor show!
