Hi all

I have just recently bought my cougar after wanting one for a while. Noticed the other day after trying to pit the cruise control on when i was on the motorway that it doesn't work. When i press the button nothing happen on the displays. Don't know if anyone has had similar problem

thanks

If it's a C1 there isn't a 'Cruise Activated' warning lamp as there is in a C2.

It looks from the OP's post that - lights or not - it doesn't actually work though.

Lee - have a look under the bonnet and make sure that the CC module is actually there (nearside, under the windscreen), and that the cable coming from it is in place and in one piece.

Your probably aware but just incase your not:
The CC will not operate below 30mph.
You need to press the "ON" button followed by the "+" button to set the speed or to accellerate. If you get that, then the other buttons are self explanatory.

As Alan says above, the ON button alone will not put you in cruise. You need to follow with the + or - button to set and activate it. The = button will pause or resume, brake or clutch will also pause and OFF will clear the memorised speed and switch it off.

Hi all. Thanks for the quick replies. Just to let everyone know i did have a look in the handbook when i found out it didn't work so had an idea how it should actually come on. I was having a look about fuses but it doesn't seem to have one linked to the cc. Is this correct does anybody know?

Mako didn't know about that so will check it out.

Thanks for your help all

You in Scunny? Well, I so happen (believe it or not) to be in Scunny :)

And I may possibly be able to offer a second pair of eyes if you struggle.

I am just off Timberlands

I am in scunny (unfortunately but at least im not the only one lol). Thanks very much. Is there only one relay (car is an auto) and anyone got an idea how to test one 👍

Lee popped round this morning....nice to meet you.

I think I have encouraged him to become a full member.

And.....hold on to your seats.....I fixed it :)

okay, okay - so it wasn't taxing in the end.

I checked the pedal switches which have been played with before, but appeared in working order.

So I then popped the bonnet (perhaps I should have done this bit first, but hey ho) and the module was there and the plug was in situe.

Then onto the cable - and it wasn't attached to the throttle body.....5 seconds later it was and cruise was confirmed as operational :)

Nice looking ebony V6 with 60k on the clock. Needs a little tlc, but that sounds like it's in hand.

Apparently its staying standard.....apart from new wheels....now who do you know who has said that before.

Don't be a stranger Lee - look out for some of the local meets.

Very nice to meet you Si

Definitely going to become a full member now and hopefully i will have the chance to meet a lot more of you.

Thanks very much Si

Not a problem, its nice (for once) to offer a minimal amount of experience/guidance to someone else.

Like I said (and others will testify to) I am no mechanic - but I have picked up a few bits from those in the know on here.

Take care

It's the second such occurrence dick. I won't be making a habit of it....certainly something complicated :)
