Wow... Thanks for all your comments, condolence and offers of help. I feel loved.. lol... My mother is called Patricia so guess it would be wiered calling my Cougar that...... ha.... The damage doesn't look that bad. Rear bumper split and scratched. Got a clonk underneath now when i go over bumps and brakes have faded and gone soft ???? (still driveable) but by the time the garage have added labour, paint, cups of tea etc. It will be more than the 40% limit they use for "economically repairable" Being collected tomorrow, so i should know more by end of week. I would like to think i can buy her back and make her beautiful again. 1st car I've owned that the wife likes so got the green light to spend lots of money and time on her... and the car...
Thats not a huge list, get it back if they try to write it off, arrange a minifixswapmeet and I am sure the Cougarites will come running eager to help get you back on the road

Absolutely correct. And with what we pay in premiums, and surcharges to cover uninsured drivers, I guarantee you I would make them pay.
Hi all, Well, after an inspection from the garage and a few conversations with the insurance, we have agreed on a pay out and I keep the car with no recorded loss against it. So everyone's a winner.. Bumper needs a bit of filler and paint (or another silver one fitting if its easier) but the rest of her is all ok. (tuff old bird).... I can now get on with making her perfect all over and hopefully driving her for a bit longer than last time. Thanks again for all your interest and comments, looking forward to more posts and banter and hopefully joining you on any meet ups.

Cheers for that. I am going to take it to a friend of a friend and see what he will charge to re do it. If it starts getting expensive I will give you a shout and take you up on your offer. Got my new full set of discs n pads arriving Tuesday, so hopefully I will be able to stop by end of next weekend, bit more important than how she looks at present. Any idea what tool I need to remove the callipers and where I can get one.?. Also (sorry if its the wrong place to ask) but my fan is running constantly from when I switch the ignition on. Any ideas how I put this right. Cheers......
