Just under the windscreen, inside the car, is a removable strip that acts as a vent for the windscreen demister.

On the offside is...something...behind a purple plastic cover with cables trailing from it.

What is that please? A sensor? Part of the alarm system?

I do know this one! Just can't think lol. I think it's to do with the climate control.

It's the sunlight sensor. It acts on the heat generated inside the car by the sun and equals the temperature for the aircon.

That's the bugger!! I nearly wrote it was the daylight sensor but though it would sound random without an explanation lmao

You rock, thank you!

So this thing works with the environmental sensor in the car (to the left of the steering wheel) to balance the aircon and such? Very clever.

could also be true Kully, as night temperatures are usually cooler and have less effect on the sunlight hitting the glass, and in your case, you could wire an alarm clock to it

Exactly right (y)

How very dare you Sir Alan of Pidshire???? I'm an early riser/sleeper depending on alcohol consumed

Old thread alert!

This strip (the "windscreen heater vent" - many thanks in absentium to Warthog for that description) keeps popping out at both ends, especially when the aircon is on LO and blasting through it. Once I nearly ended up with the thing in my lap, had it not been for the environment sensor's cables. It's almost like the clips that hold it in are broken (they're not).

Is this common and if so, is there a recognised fix? Maybe padding it out or something?

Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. I push it back down and it appears to be secure but then a quick left hand bend and up it pops again.......:eek::eek:

I guess that's the car flexing?

I'm going to pull the thing out and run a bead of adhesive sponge around the ends. It's the only thing I can think of.

:EDIT: I didn't notice that this had gone to two pages! Thank you all for the advice! LOL Codpiece.
