Transcend Drive Pro220 should be going in today providing my back holds up . It will be replacing my larger dual cam one which will be taking up residence in my rear screen all being well.

Aren't we all getting a bit paranoid putting all this recording equipment in? Our new buses have TEN:eek:
I must admit I'm not thinking about rushing out to buy one.

I know what u meen but then ive had 3 near misses this passed 2 months...
Plus i like the fact that if anyone bumps a door or rams it it automatically takes a 10 second video of them legging it.

Thought i'd add a couple, one from last Friday. Just leaving Dads and would you beleive it! My sister of all people cuts me up!!!
Watch the silver corsa at the beginning of the clip:

...and as if that wasn't bad enough, just watch this numpty in the Silver RX8. I just wished i had thought to get a tad closer for the reg.
At appx 47 secs into the clip you'll see him/her turn left on the opposite side of the junction where I am about to follow him/her. As we go down the high street about 50 yards from the zebra crossing just watch. Then at appx 1:50 and you have to watch closely to see it, he overtakes a Fiesta iirc about 50 yards from the junction at the top of the hill as a Range Rover coming the other way must have made him/her sit up a bit sharpish.

So there was some discussion up-thread about how owning a dashcam might negatively affect your insurance. I don't agree with that generally, (though insurance companies aren't known for being logical, so maybe...) but I have noticed something that you might not have.

You're showing speed information.

Speed limits notwithstanding - and I'm not a lawyer - if you're doing 29 in a 30 and you hit a kid that ran out between parked cars, or another car edging out of a junction, there is the potential that your adversary could get you for "driving without due care and attention". The speed limit doesn't protect you when the conditions don't support it. And as a side note, it doesn't save their life or your car, either.

Cpt. Buzzkill here would like you to think about the risks of self-incrimination. The dashcam is a powerful weapon in the fight against insurance fraud, poor driving and lunacy. But this isn't the USA; don't let your own evidence be used against you. Remember also that if you were maybe speeding before the accident, that could be taken into consideration.

All absolutely correct - especially the point about weather conditions. It's been rung into me by my parents about how the limits mean nothing in rain or snow, and they're right. They're called limit's, not compulsories.

Also...

L rider, needs to learn pretty quickly. It's a good job you were on the ball and travelling at a reasonable speed there Mark cos he really was in No Mans Land, especially if it had been some numpty driver speeding his way.

Motorcycle pulls out in front of me...

I guess in fairness, he did roll back instead of going, "Well I'm out in the junction now and he's stopped, so I may as well carry on..."

Those turnings are pretty nasty, he's on L plates (as Al noted) and despite the sun being low in your eyes, you were observant enough to stop in time, (well done, even if it was self-preservation!).

So he gets to learn from the experience with no harm done. Not every youngster is so lucky.

I could not beleive what happened here even though i saw him coming up the inside at a rate of knotts. The footage is misleading, this was actually much much closer than the clip seems. Mercifully there was space behind me and nothing in the outside lane.

edit: apologies for the language. I did try to edit it but youtube doesn't seem to have that facility.
