Okay...so a chance phone call has lead to an opportunity for me...and all of you as well I hope.

Someone I have been in contact with previously about parts has offered me what he describes as a dead c2.

He was offered £190 by his local scrap yard...so I have made him a better offer.

It's a 51 plate in amazon green v6 with full leather interior and spoiler.

I collect on Monday.

From what I have been told to date it sounds like it has generally seen better days, but should the best course of action be to break it then all the 'c2' bits are in good nick, present and correct.

Ideally, it will be an easy fix and put up for sale which seems, from what I am told, to be unlikely.

If it gets broken I am aware a few bits will be sought after and it will be on a first come first served basis.

I will start another for sale thread when time is right....its just a little heads up for now.

Oh crap, not more 'for sale' threads started by you, surely you're going to have to register as a trader soon. :p

Better that I do it than Mr scrap man....

Just think of all the c2 goodies which otherwise would go missing....and the amount of cars it could help keep on the road if it gets broken.

Just been told it has cruise control also.

I'm thinking more about all the people that helped you break Cat 2 (because you didn't know how), and how since then you've done nothing but break Cougars.

Steve...should I turn down the opportunity because of what has gone before? I am still a mechanical klutz but now have a mate in this country who is willing to do the spannering. I really dont think its fair to beat me with that stick..again.

I am eternally grateful for the help I have received on more than one occasion and would like to think a lot of people have been recompensed in at least a small part with cheap/free bits and bobs.

The silver cougar for which parts are available on here was bought as a project that didn't work out.

The plan was to do that one up, but financially it would have been bonkers.

I didn't start this to debate the rights and wrongs of it...just giving people the heads up about what is coming up.

Then we'll not go there then, though having spent a fair amount on fuel, to do the 450 round trip to Sfront bottomhorpe to help you out, when I could have just left it to you, and paid £40 tops for Paisley freight to deliver what I wanted does kind of suck.

@ Steve and Si.

Lets not get out of context with this. There are no "rights" or "wrongs" here, just personal feeling/opinions. IMO, if somebody wants to buy and break a hundred cars and break them for profit is the business of buyer and seller. If this debate rears in the classifieds it will be deleted without warning. Meanwhile, calm down guys. As far as i can see, Profit or otherwise, Si is afterall providing a service to this forum. If it grieves you to see cars being broken for profit, then don't buy, but at least have the courtesy of not putting the guy down.

to be fair i think si is doing us a great favour in supplying us with parts for our cars, from cars that are un-economic to repair that he has aqquired, otherwise said cars would go to breakers and we would be charged a hell of alot more for bits, or they would simply be crushed! its great that we have a family guy willing to spend time to help us out (he cant be earning a large amount from the prices charged to be fair) si has helped me out on a few occasions and i know who to call if i need bits and i know i wont be ripped off

Al i think Manos was putting a comical slant on it mate(y)
Yes, definitely intended with a comical slant but also a serious suggestion.
As Si is our resident breaker (doing a valuable service), it does make sense having his own section. With so many varying parts available, it will allow him to organise his posts better and free up the main for sale section for other members.(y)

It does pain me that so many Cougars are being broken, as in an ideal world we'd all like to keep them on the road but some major repairs are are just too costly for a fix and flog scenario to be viable.

I don't blame him at all. If I had the space to keep cars I would be doing the same as this earns extra money for him and his family. If you can buy a whole car for a few hundred and turn it into a few thousand then why not.
And if a C2 comes along then you would be mad not to do it, given the rare parts alone will fetch near £800.

And I appreciated it Steve.

The numerous parts that you and Rachel got from me were not exactly charged at top whack were they though?

Anyway, we will go round in circles all day with this.

If the car is a cheap and easy repair it will be back on the road.

Anyway, that's enough of having to justify myself....again

I'll put this in admin Manos, i agree that while Si has the capacity for supplying the parts it makes sense. (y)
