GG/Phoenix/Thing is now definitely being renamed Christine - and definitely going!

As you will all be aware she has tried to kill me - broken my knee/leg - broken down as far away from home as possible etc etc.

She has now obviously taken exception to me trying to sell her! As suggested I removed the sun strip and the side stripes but as I was removing said side stripes I suddenly got an adverse paint reaction to the adhesive remover that I was using and she has now got horrible grey patches on both sides reducing her value substantially!!!!

I really can't be ar*ed with her any more so stuck her on Ebay anyway with a 99p reserve

I then went to give her one last check over and the bonnet release leaver ceased functioning!!!!! WTF I thought, she really is trying to stop me from selling her!!

1/2hr later and the bonnet release was sorted - went to lock her and the alarm started to malfunction WTF WTF WTF - she really is trying to stop me selling her - but she really is going - like it or not - end of an era

When it's time to go!........................just don't be a stranger yourself Iain.

What did you use on the adhesive? I've used thinners to remove bodykit adhesive and it does no harm providing you don't scrub it in. My guess is the paint had no where near enough laquer on it.

love the typical 'fag in mouth' mofo reflection!

what happened to the guy on IOW Iain he seemed as keen as mustard?

Not heard anything back from him recently Steve. I will put an update on SCC tomorrow but if anyone here wants her - as per the 'For Sale' thread - I'd take the first £500 to come along!!!

Yup - it was two bits where it had obviously been resprayed Alan - the rest of the car was fine but after testing it on a small area and everything being OK it was then too late by the time I realised what was going on!!

Yup, definitely time to part company Iain. Hopefully the new owner will have more luck with her - perhaps the fact you're now driving an oil burner was the final straw for her

Blimey if nobody in the the club (or SCC for that matter) offers you £500 for her they're all mad

Huh. Looks like some cars can get cantankerous as they start getting older, just like some people do. Good luck with the sale Iain. (y)

A sad day indeed - and the end of the current era - but I'm sure there will be another to follow :)

New owner Dan drove her off to Warwickshire this lunchtime. His ST24 died and he needed a quick replacement so at least she is going to another fan of the blue oval.

TBA I wasn't all that sad to see her go. GG was a dream - a fantastic free flowing, free spirited beast and I was gutted when she went through a slow painful death. I had such high hopes and expectations for The Phoenix which she never lived up to and really was a bit of a let down from day 1 never living up to the performance of her predecessor.

The really sad thing was that I got twice as much for the ICE, plates, wheels and bits than I did for the car itself (- and more than I would have taken for the complete car in the first place!!!! :)).

Finances are such that I won't be able to even consider looking for another cat for a good while yet but I'm sure that there is another GG out there waiting to rekindle my passion

Glad to hear she has found a new home, hopefully Dan (strange coincidence!) will pop along to the club and keep Phoenix part of the fold. Also good to hear that you got some decent wedge for her, even if it was a pain in the backside removing/swapping bits :)

Just caught up with this Iain, glad you got it sorted but so sorry to see it go-yours was the first car in the club i met and which really got me inspired

Iain, glad to hear you managed to sell her, but sad that it's the end of an era with you driving GG aka The Phoenix. Hopefully she will come back into the fold with the new owner.
