Just a quick heads up for ebony owners, Halfords have a sale on at the moment and are selling turtle wax black box kit for £12.
I have heard very good things about this product but have never tried it , but at that price i have bought one and intend to use it on the Audi once the weather starts to improve.
I will of course put a review on when i do

Have used it before on a blue Volvo I had really hid the scratches but didn't last long but at that price worth trying. I only use Megauirs polish now and does a good job on my ebony,be interesting to see how you get on look forward to your review.

Sounds a bit like Poorboy's Black Hole. Doesn't last forever, but my lord, that shine... Be very interesting to see how Mike gets on though.
 
looks exactly like poor boys but this kit has the detailer and wax included all 3 products are black but it is not for the quick clean as to do it properly it takes between 3-4 hours I believe but at half price it's got to be worth a try

Completely agree! And having had the pleasure of meeting your last Ebony, I know that you won't put up with rubbish.
 
For the price I have taken the plunge and managed to pick the last one up in my local Halfords.
 
Thanks Mike, may have to give this a go, as was looking at buying some new polishes etc. for the coug anyway.
 
Today i looked out and saw an overcast day but temps were not cold and dry so i decided to give the turtle wax black box a go.
The wifes black mini needed washing so i decided to give it the full treatment
pre-wash
snowfoam
rinse
snowfoam
rinse
towel dry
then on to the turtle wax - which i followed the instructions to the letter
First comes the Black pre wax cleaner (as Chris said very much like Poorboys) this is designed to hide any swirl marks and small imperfections, put it on with a microfiber cloth and then allow to dry. Then use the black detailer spray to wipe off ( i must say at this point everything is black and stains like buggery)
This was very very hard to take off and i ended up doing it three times before i was happy.
Then i applied the black wax making sure i shook the bottle properly beforehand and allowed to dry, then used the black detailing spray to buff off.And finally a good buff with a clean towel.
At this point it had taken me an hour and half and i had only done the bonnet and the results were disappointing.
The pre wax cleaner is very hard to remove and does not really fill any marks,( poorboys is a far better product to use)
the black detailing spray is ok but stains everything
the wax is very thin (just like water) and does not give a very good shine at all.
All in all a very disappointing result and considering some places charge £28 for this kit.

I finished the rest of the car and redid the bonnet in an hour with AG detailer and AG wax and got far better results.
So for marks out of ten i give this product a 2 and that is mainly down to the two microfiber cloths and the sponge applicator that came with the kit
 
That's a real shame - especially at that price point - but at least now you know. Will avoid, and stick with Poorboys!

Not that it matters much on my paintjob, of course...
 
Too true Al , product aimed at mass market but I bet there are many kits left in garages that have only been used once
