It'll be a cold catalyst I'd be almost certain.The mot was before 8.00am I had left the car at the garage the night before so maybe a cold cat might be the reason for the high co2 reading it still a pass I just didn't want it to get any worse and course a problem next year
To be honest though mate, even if the catalyst is failing you've got twelve months to not give a single toss about it.
MOT stations should use an oil thermometer to check the engine oil temperature exceeds 80 degrees centigrade, but this has a few risks; I always used to check oil temps but I know many NTs who will use the over-ride (usually engine fan engaged, which is a reason to assume oil dip is not required) so the catalyst might have been "stone cold".
I think it's a quick-test (BET) anyway so to be honest it could well be quite within the range of an AET for the engine.
Basically, you've got nothing at all to be bothered by.
