Can't do the 18th due to a big family event which may make some Cougarfest regulars busy too.
Nice and interesting idea but might it be a bit too much to cram into the weekend.
Some of us might have to stay at base camp and cook curry goat.
Yes it will be for us.Is the 18th going to be 'out' then no matter where 'fest might be?
Yes it will be for us.
If Fest is any other weekend, we'll be there but not if it's the weekend of the 18th.
Both events offer camping until Monday lunchtime.
I don't want to mention any names or speak for others (that's not my place to do so) but yes, potentially some Fest regulars will be unavailable on the 18th.Thanks for that Manos but in your earlier post you suggested there might be other 'fest regulars who would be other-wise engaged on the 18th. If that is the case I would avoid offering that weekend as an option.
While i like the idea of being involved with weekend events such as these, i think it would be a restriction of our usual "Fest" freedom to do as we please. We would also be limited to those two days with no option to stay another night?
TBH I'm in favour of sticking with the current format.
The main attraction of Fest for me is meeting up with good friends, meeting new Fest goers, tinkering with the cars, eating good food, having a few drinks and a good laugh, enjoying the party, nursing the next day hangover.
The field we've had at Grendon the last couple of years has been a good setting with good facilities (shower block nearby, electrical hook-ups etc) and quite importantly, we can park our cars with us and setup the club gazeebo.
Quite a lot of camp sites want you to park in a remote car park overnight including Grendon but thay make an exception for us.
If we try and fit Fest around another event we will loose the freedom and flexibility we've been used to and it probably won't be our own exclusive event any more.
Meeting up for a steam rally is a good idea for a new event but don't mess with Fest!
I agree totally with Manos.
Fest is traditionally a "free for all" as far as doing things goes. Bringing in structure will ruin it I think. We tried years ago with on site "workshops" as it were for different areas of maintenance, modifying etc. That was all within the camp area and it wasn't really that great a success. It's all about just chilling out and having a natter, a munch, a drink and a giggle![]()
Looks good but their website says....The place we use for Probefest is Trentfield Farm near Retford, Nottinghamshire - not far from the A1 and central for most.

Just in case it is any help.
