Hi All

My first post here so just wanted to say hello !

I have today put a deposit on my Ford Cougar and I collect it at the end of the month. Its a 2000 X Reg Cougar with a new engine fitted last year ( a 2.0 litre engine from a Ford Focus ). Its in mint condition all over and I am well chuffed !

I have wanted a Cougar since the first day they came out and have now finally got one. I had a Ford Probe before and loved it but always wanted the Cougar instead !

I am from High Wycombe in Bucks. I work full time as a Mobile Car Valeter / Detailer and I also run a little table football club at www.wycombetablefootball.webs.com

Cant wait to get hold of my Cougar, I have 2 long weeks to wait !!

So, just wanted to say hello and look forward to becoming a helpful active member of the forum. :)

Pid_16V's standard welcome:

Hi Mark, welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.
Sounds like you have a nice zetec there. Loads of mods you can do with the zetec to "up" the power if you want to.

Welcome to the forum, Mark. What colour is your new feline, by the way? Given your profession, I imagine it will come in for a special amount of pampering, just make sure you take plenty of pics of the whole process and post them up here for us to perv at!

Welcome Mark, once you have a cougar you wont want any other car, there are people on here that are on there 3rd or 4th cougars because everytime they get rid of them they regret selling them.
The smile per mile more than makes up for the little extra you use in petrol over more mundane cars

Welcome Mark and congrats on your new cat (y)

Just let us know when to drop our cats off with you for a full detailing

Hello and Welcome aboard the Madship Cougardome. Good to hear you've bought yourself a Cougar, although you have bought something no-one else in the club will have....an Focus Zetec engined Coug no less!! Get some pic's up once you get it home and give it a damn good detailing.....and ofcourse started the obligatory modding...lol

Thanks everyone.

Yes, the car will be pampered to extreme measures - as I am buying it from a friend who has owned the car from new I have alreayd been up and cleaned it all - Machine Polished, Polish, Glaze, Sealant, 2 coats of wax, removed all 4 alloys and deep cleaned and polished them all even on the insides of the wheels, cleaned and dressed all the inner arches etc etc etc !

The car is the light silver colour. Will try to get over to him again this weekend to take some pics and post them up here.

I love this car, had the pleasure of driving it for a week a few months ago as my mate lent it to me to try out. Love the way it drives and even though its only the 2.0 litre it was amazingly quick compared to my Ford Probe I had and so quiet too !

I do want to do a few subtle mods to it. Where is the best place to buy these mods ? I am thinking clear side repeaters as a must to start with and I would not mind getting some bigger alloys ( currently has the standard alloys on it ) - whats the best wheel and tyre size to go for on the car - I want it to look aggressive but still ride well as I live in High Wycombe which is Speed Bump City !

Many thanks to all the kind welcomes on here and look forward to showing my new cat off very soon !

Having the 2.0 Zetec Focus engine fitted - is this a bad thing or a good thing ? How does it compare to the engine that would of come out of the car ? ( The engine was replaced as it broke down and died when he "forgot" to put antifreeze in it last winter after a self service and the focus engine came up at the time with only 35,000 miles on it, hence my mate bought and fitted that instead )

Welcome mate. The engines must be similar, they are both 2.0L black-top zetec-e engines, so I can't see as there being anything different except the donar was a Focus instead of a Mundeno ;)
Clear side repeaters is the way to go, lots of places sell them as they are the same size as fitted to the old Escort Mk5/6. Wheel wise if you want a bit of comfort and some style go for 17's over the better looking 18 inch set up, just get the right tyre set up and you will be fine.
A C2 with C1 lights  sacrilege :) (i can only guess that your friend must have had one damaged, and as C2 lights are expensive he didn't replace like for like)

Yes, you are right mate, he hit a bird on the way home one night and smashed one light, he then found a pair of C1 headlights on ebay for cheaper than one new C2 headlight, hence its a C2 with C1 headlights !

What tyre size should I get to fit 17" alloys to the car and where is a good place to buy alloys from for it ? Is there a place where all Cougar owners go for wheels, mods, accessories etc ?
