Finally passed m.o.t.

On Ford models from around the middle of the 2000's they tied the radio code to the vehicle's ECU which made it even more difficult to swap from one vehicle to another.

Ive found with most of the ones ive seen for added security the code is wrote on the top of the radio in tipex

Yes thats right u did offer if i get engraved code i know i havent had chance yet but will get in touch sort of monday tuesday is ok with code an i am really grateful honestly i can hear clicking when i change from screen position to feet on my hvac just noticed but no display blank and no blower at all

Dan, I've got a spare HVAC unit if you want to try it. You would need to swap the backlight bulbs out of yours but apart from that it was working when I replaced it with the C2 version in my last Cougar.

I had never heard of that over here, and I even stuck one of our radios in a honda civic..... long story lol

I know that stereo theft is a thing in the US (I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale in the 70s and 80s, so...) but I don't think it was ever as bad as it used to be over here. It was endemic in the larger cities. What made it even worse is that they'd break your window to get at a godawful Sony tape deck and whatever change you had in the centre console. So anyway, that's why radio codes are common over here. Cars from the 70s to the 90s would even have a sticker in the window advertising the fact that the radio was coded, in an attempt to dissuade any would-be thieves. Assuming they could read, of course.

Incidentally, this is one of the reasons - but not the only one - why many insurers offer glass insurance as a seperate product; it means you can be covered even if you're only on 3rd Party, Fire and Theft coverage.

I was working site christina st cardiff five years back and cars where broken into daily to steal items such as stereo and contents bags etc very bad

when talked to locals they were to a point of not even locking cars so as not to have broken windows to commute to work with as fed up of ringing police to get no results and rebroken into very shortly again

Curious fellas having had another poke around look at fuses ive got a block with wires not conected to anything in top right hand corner under glovebox is this normal or maybe just a zetec thing

And checked any fuse to do with blower and cant find no issues so need to change hvac on weekend and if still dont work its find some one skilled to look into it after i move cos it isnt a loose relay ive wiggle move taken out put back in and tapped anything associated with ac or heater blower etc only motor left after that or someone can check relays more competent than me ( not hard lol)

With any question about wiring, you're far better off getting a picture of the connector(s), mate. Including a shot of the wiring colours will help too.

Christina St not the best part of Cardiff but much much better than it was 20 years ago. I had my van done on Loudon square, I seem to recall all the got was an empty drill box. I was watching it like a hawk but had to move it out of site for a few mins. My lads almost caught them. Recently involved in a project the other end of Bute St, Bay end. My car was untouched ( not the cougar) nor did I hear of any vans being done. Worst I've heard in recent year was a site on the outskirts of Bridgend, they would come back daily and hit the same vans.
What do you do to earn a living ?

Im a senior supv at a security firm lol

I'm no expert but I thought the water pump was at the top ish, front the other side of the engine. There are no water hoses near the alty. Pinkish dry stuff near the alty, could this be residue of maybe red grease thrown from a failed UJ gaitor?
U can change the alty belt without fear of upsetting the timing. Hey I'm talking v6 here. the cams are chain driven.

Just changed coil pack and car seems to be a lot better fingers crossed thats one prob solved will change the leads over later oh and dont know where my coolants going but will prob fid out after i move got keys tomoz and got be out by end of month so busy couple weeks lol

Yep different car going to work this morning im convinced now was coil pack do leads later in week just got two main issues now fit another hvac see if that fixes heater and find where my coolant escapeing but moveing more important

Ok that pink stuff sorry for my earlier explanation is on timeing side of engine behind the pulley wheel next to i think the power steering pump

PAS pump is the large pulley at the top of the engine, in the V made by the heads. There are no coolant runs in that area, so my best (unseen) guess is you are - or have been - leaking power steering fluid.

Only problem with that is, it's an oil, so shouldn't dry out like that; it would instead be a waxy stain.

I think we need pics.

Glad that your ignition problem seems to be sorted though.
