Picked my cougar up thursday afternoon filled her up with petrol and took her out in derbyshire for a couple of hours awesome probably the best drive ive ever had loved every minute of it will be doing it again soon.Gave the car a good clean and polish she seems in excellent condition not alot i can see wrong with her although she makes a loud humming noise from the back seats every now and then and revs up and down when this happens think it maybe some thing to do with the fuel pump also make funny noise from the steering wheel when you reverse and turn the wheel but this aint going to put me off just something to sort out really happy with the car.

They're great fun to drive, aren't they. Real characters. Just wait until you get on a motorway and it begs you to take it up to lose-your-license speeds.

May be an oddly-worn lower wishbone bush. Or maybe a low PAS fluid level.

I'm not sanctioned by the board owner to say this, but do yourself a favour and subscribe to get access to a) every tech detail you would ever need to know and b) a bunch of guys who have been living with Cougars for over a decade and will help you diagnose your issues. It's worth every penny.

The uneven revs and the fuel pump intermittent humming: The pump needs to prime the system at every startup which you should hear under the back seat, if it's intermitent in tune with the uneven revs i would suspect a fuel leak. Check the filter under and just forward of the drivers side rear wheel arch.
The noise from the wheel: suspect CV joint but also check the fluid level as mentioned earlier.
