Hello,

Any opinions this picture? http://imgur.com/rfgbh9B

I found the part outside the house, I heard a noise as I was pulling onto the drive and I'm not sure if it was on the path and I just drove over it or if it fell of my car (2000 - V6).

I'm guessing it could be part of one of the rear coil springs but I've had problems tracking down a clear picture to compare it to.

Thanks!
John

Thanks guys, its looking like a fair bet that its off mine but I can't quite figure out how it worked its way free to make its way to the pavement.

Thanks
John

might be worth a good look at yours, as the coils look a bit close together for it to have slipped around the centre of the shock?

It is definitely worth looking before assuming they're his, (is the car sagging, for a start) but I can see how it might have happened.

Spring broke - which I once saw happen while the car wasn't even being driven - and then rattled around until it spun off like a key from a keychain. Though you'd think you'd hear something like that going on.

Incidentally, I have a spare set given to me by someone who lowered their car. If it does turn out you need one, give me a shout. No charge, but you have to collect or Cougarforce, (the postage would be nuts).

Thanks Mako, I'll keep that in mind.

I'll be taking a closer look at it in the morning but I can't see any obvious signs at the moment, fingers crossed :)

No worries. No need for you to spend out when I've got them sitting here doing nothing.

Park on a flat surface and just measure the arch gap. They're never exactly the same in my experience - Tiger's nearside is maybe 1cm lower than her offside because mass-production and stuff - but if you've lost that much coil from the tightest part, you should be able to just see it.

If you're not sure, then take the wheels off and have a look.

That happened to my Rover 75 - I part-exd it to a dealer who reluctantly gave me £300.
By chance I know the transporter driver who took it to auction - once he'd unloaded and parked it up there was a bang..........

Where in the country are you jwaiv, just in case of CougarForce?

I agree, the coil is closed. I would guess you just happened to run over an old medievil artifact that happens to look like a coil spring part. Maybe it's a druids tork. :)

...and again, my brothers 75 was just sat on the drive when suddenly a front spring just let go with a hell of a clatter.

Thanks everyone, I've had a good look at the car today and I'm now sure the part is not from my car. Lucky this time :)
