Getting lots of white smoke from my exhaust

There is always moisture in your exhaust produced by burning fuel, the combustion products are CO2 and H2O. All car exhausts steam especially on a cold day as the moisture condenses quicker in the cold air. Also the bigger the engine, the more fuel used and the more steam comes out.

I would understand white "smoke" to be something considerably thicker and more serious ?

Cheers

I think "white smoke" is usually the owners perception of steam but if i was going to be pinickity, then it's not actually steam either is it, it's water vapour, unboiled! :)

If it were real 'smoke' you'd be more likely to smell it before you saw it in the rearview mirror... If I slip the clutch even a tiny bit when parking on a slope, the smell is instantaneous...
