..not quite gone, but will be soon!

After a lot of thought and consideration, my time as a Cougar owner will come to an end next week. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a big cat driver, made all the more enjoyable by the great people on this forum and the fun and community that goes with it.

My car hasn't been that reliable lately, and I know they're only relatively minor things, but it has had almost 1,000 pounds worth of work done on it this year and there's a few more jobs left to do too. As my only car and a daily runner, I can't afford to have it let me down or suck money out of me, so it is time to move on. I currently have it down as a part ex against my new car, but will post it in the For Sale section too in case someone wants it! They'll have to be quick though, as I collect my new car next Friday :) (It's a Mazda 3 Sport if anyone's interested!)

This forum and you guys who make up the UKCougar famaily are one of the main reasons I have kept my Cat for 4 1/2 years, making it the longest I have kept any car! My one and only Cougarfest last year and Warthogs funeral this year are the two extremes that show why this club is more like a family than just a car owners club. I will stick around the forum and hope to catch you at some local meets (I'll park at the other side of the sites!) or Christmas do

Keep it real guys and keep looking out for each other!

Good luck mate - I've got a Mazda 5 sport (07)which is based on the 3. I like it but its no Cat and tbh its more Ford than Mazda, so if you can work out the cross ref for the part you need you can save some dosh as you can buy patent parts rather than Mazda.

Yes the best of luck with the new motor Dan - the time comes eventually when we all have to consider moving on to something else. I've got a few Japanese motors on my shortlist for when that time comes :)

Good to hear you're staying around - and I reckon the count of non-Cougars appearing at shows and events in the future will only increase. Is it the MPS model you've gone for?

Good to hear you will still pop in Dan, was nice to meet you this year at Castle Combe, Good luck with the new car chap, it will be a time that will come for all of us at some point... May be see you again soon at a meet or a meal... cougar or not.. (y)

Best of luck Dan and hope you have plenty of smiles per mile with your new Mazda. Sorry the coug has to go, but there is always a time when if your car starts letting you down and costing you a bundle, then you know when to call it a day and let it go. I hope that one doesn't end up in the scrap yard. Hopefully someone will grab it at auction and breathe some life back into her once more. Good to know your sticking around - like you say - we are more of a big family on here. Cheers for now, Tim.

Good luck Frodo :) hope the new motor is a good one, you ca still come Fest in a Mazda dude ;)

Thanks guys :) I won't be going too far. My subscription doesn't run out for a few months yet and I want to get my money's worth  ! I will re-subscribe just to keep an eye on what's going on :)!

No, it's not the MPS... dare I say it's the 2.0l oil burner! It's on a '57 plate, 50k miles, had one owner and is a good spec, with leather, Bose stereo, cruise and all the bells and whistles. I'll post some pic's up next week when I've picked it up.

I know you've been thinking of selling for a while now Dan but I thought your Cat had earned a reprieve.
Thanks for supporting Castle Combe and I hope your new car gives you as much pleasure as the Cougar obviously did.

Thanks Andy! I know, it did have a small reprieve, but decided enough was enough after the starter motor went last week... I have a friend interested in buying it though, so should hopefully end up at a good home
