I just got myself a Cougar, 16 years after the first one! Back in 1999 I was working for a big american photo company, and we had Fords as company cars, and I managed to get not one, but 2 Cougars as company cars. The first one was this, Laser red 2.0, from what I could find one of the first ones registered in Norway. Here photograped in my working surroundings at the time, up in northern Norway:

Then the leasing expired, and I managed to get one of the last ones sold in Norway, also a 2.0 but this time in Dark Tourmaline Green:

Ever since I had those, I have been thinking about getting another one and preserving it for eternity (or keeping at as a hobby-car) for a long time, so when I happened to stumble upon a low milage, well-maintained specimen about 2 weeks ago, I jumped at the opportunity and bought it!
Now this beauty is filling my driveway perfectly:

This one is also Laser Red, the VIN number is just +1 of the one I had in 1999 :)

These cars are getting quite rear in Norway, as they were only sold in 1999 an 2000, and according to my Ford dealer, they only sold "a handfull" in those 2 years.
Anyway, it is a nice compliment to my Mondeo and my wifes Focus

Hi and welcome to ukcougar.org, your in the right place for all things cougar related. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.org is the only workshop manual for the big cat.

Welcome! (y)

It is a shame us Brits never got the choice of Laser Red - it suits the car so well. Nice example you have there! ;)

Nice car, and story :)

The Cougar badging is in an odd place...at first I wondered if it was standard for a Norwegian car but your Amazon has it in the 'proper' place

Welcome aboard

Hi and welcome. Very clean looking car you've got there. And I LOVE that first picture, I'd really like to visit Norway one day.

Funny how all pics are taken from behind.
But then most people see mine in their rear view mirror for barely a few seconds before getting a good look at its rear end.

Thanks all for the warm wecome here on the forum! (y)
I never noticed before the badge being in different places om my cars, that is a bit strange. Maybe it is different from country to country? I have noticed US Cougars have yet another badge, where Cougar is spread out over the width of the hatch.
Since i have a snow-picture, I can confirm the Cougar to be a competent winter car, I had Finnish Hakkapellitta studded tires, and had no problems in the snow. I only sometimes wanted to have traction control, but it was not available on the 2.0 in Norway. The V6 had it as standard.
Reading through many of the posts in the forum, it becomes apparent the spec for the Cougar varies from UK to Norway. On the 2.0 there was only one option available: Sunroof. On the V6 you could have sunroof and/or automatic. Thats it as far as options went back in the days.
We got automatic AC, heated seats and windscreen on all models, 2.0 got the 16" painted rims, V6 got the polished version.
V6 came standard with leather seats.

Colours available: Laser Red, Dark Tourmaline Green, Silver Frost, Medium Melina Blue, and a black I cannot remember the name of.
(all this is from memory, but mostly correct I hope :)

I suspect Ford Norway tried to keep it simple, as they probably assumed this would not be a big seller..

the black was ebony. we got 4 colours not the laser red but got amazon green on the cougar2.
