Guess I am a new owner

All the fourbys have had the fuel gauge back to front except the black Zetec Si owned - it's down to using two Mongy 4x4 fuel senders. Nick sorted it on the black one. You'll quickly get used to it (and the fuel light coming on along with the warning beep when you brim the tank)

oh no john, mine was backwards too

Oh right, I thought he'd sorted that one? Ok, so they're all the same!

Edit: now I remember, it was the fuel filler. On the black one it was a standard Cougar one with the flap, the other two had lockable air fillers. I knew there was something different!

Can it be filled slowly without degreasing the forecourt ?

It only leaks when filling, once filled it is fine

^^ This

The leak is from a rubber hose between the metal filler pipe and the plastic feed to the tank. Nick had a couple of goes at sorting it but it continued to leak. Get it up on a jack and remove the wheel arch liner and you'll see the bit I'm talking about. The pipe into the tank is an odd shape and has been deformed over the years by the jubilee clips. Check the rubber hose between the filler and tank neck too as I'm sure Alex said it had perished. This was the only reason I sold it to Alex, I just lost patience with it after several trips to HQ and it still leaking. If you're creative I'm sure you can sort it Rik (y)

Dow Corning 744

Holds the UK's water industry together! It's not dissolved by many solvents (trust me, I've tried) and it's an extremely sticky and flexible silicone sealant. Not cheap but if you're looking a decent, permanent leak fix on plastic piping.......

Surely there must be a vapour leak from this if it's open to atmosphere, that's not good!

That's more like it (y)

Not a fan of the gold rims then Rik? ;)

Not sure about them John, tyres on the front were a bit iffy and I had these in the garage with new Falkens on which came off my Cossie so I thought I might as well use them for now and at the moment I prefer the silver

Could do with 18`s or 19`s really

Just taxed and insured her so she is good to go once I have topped up the coolant

Going to use her as a daily for a bit to see what faults show up

Haha, they were the Toyo's that Mofo had fitted when he bought them rims new. I did a years worth of driving on them, don't know how many miles of burnouts Iain did - not surprised they're ripe for changing
