Halfords oil offer

Please forgive my ignorance but should we be running synthetic or Semi ?
I thought it was semi but Halfords seem to think synthetic.

Ford Formula F is fully synth.

And that's all I'm gonna say because oil is a hugely contentious subject over which holy wars have been fought on other forums.

I'll just give you this and be content that you know what you're doing, Mabo.

Thanks Mako, I'll accept that as a compliment.
Useful site, Thanks again. When I found their tool where they recommend oils for your specific car, hidden in their basic engine oil info guide, most of the oils they propose are fully synthetic. Ford may have recommended semi but heck that was 18 years ago and technology moves on all the time.
Your right oil has caused it's fair share of wars, and not just on forums !
I'll be using fully synthetic when I change it in a week or so time.
Happy new year to anyone sober enough to be reading this on 1st Jan.

Hey Mako, what's the story with the tin p pot ?
And Happy new year to anyone clear headed enough to be reading this on 1st Jan.

It is the correct oil for the car. I do not see any issue at all with it. It is cheap and will do the job. Our engines are not fine tuned Ferrari engines after all.
Nobody is forcing you to buy it my friend. I just put it out there for anyone looking for oil for the car. No harm in that and someone might find it useful.

Personally though, i don't choose which oil to buy based on which is cheapest.

Extremes eh! Back in the good ole pinto days with the 20/50 stuff, that's exactly what i used to do but as education kicked in i actually started reviewing specs of the stuff. Now i look for the most suitable. Recently i found the most suitable lube for my engine is about £70 per 4 ltrs . I'll stick with the regular 5/30 stuff maybe for now.
5L of genuine Ford Formula F for £19 is a bargain compared to the last 5ltrs i bought. (y)

So that makes the Halfords offer even better then. Every penny helps I guess.

Yes Peter, you win, your offer is the best, congratulations.
I will refrain, in future, from offering an alternative.
My apologies.

Nothing to do with winning. It was just a great offer for anyone looking to change the oil on there car.Not everyone has a bottom less pit of money and if you can save a few quid here and there then it is all good in my book.
