Hi, what does everyone use as a beam deflector for use on the Continent? Do the Eurolites work on a Cougar with the earlier headlights?

Hello, it's possible to temporarily adjust the headlamps for driving on the continent by sliding the small metal lever in the bottom of the lamp unit from one side to the other. The lever is accessed by removing the plastic cover from the rear of the headlamp.

Thank you for that information. Will it work as a permanent fix as the car is going to live in the SW of France for the rest of it's life.

Not really because it only cuts the top off the beam to prevent the dazzle and doesn't actually allow them to 'bend' the opposite way.
For a long term solution, unless someone answers your Wanted post, I would look at the Spanish breakers who advertise parts from mainly LHD vehicles on ebay.

Christophe is a forum user from France who lives near Bordeaux and, as Chris says, it might be worth sending him a message as he would have local knowledge of availability of LHD headlamps.

The lever for adjusting the beams can be seen in this photo.

That's a result! I live near Bordeaux too!
Thank you for the picture of the adjusting lever, that will help a great deal.

Have you been affected by the recent fires in that area?
My brother lives near Chalais, an hour or so NE of Bordeaux, and they suffered with the smoke for a couple of days.

No, we had a bit of smoke and strange colours in the sky but no fires. We live about 45 minutes east of Chalais.

I've tried direct messaging Christophe but the system will not allow it. I'll try tagging him in this thread.

It would appear I cannot tag a member either, some account setting or rule I'm not aware of?

I think a setting might have changed because I can't private message or @ tag him either, I think because he's not showing as a member, but I didn't think those were members only features!

10+ years ago I drove a Passat estate to France for a 2 week trip. I carefully fitted the beam deflection stickers.
The glue remained on the headlights for years. Haven’t used the damned stickers since.

Although I mostly avoid driving in dark during our Euro trips.

Hi @christophe

I was advised to contact you about the availability of right dip headlights for a early (C1?) model in France.

It's a year 2000 model with the projector style headlight units.

I live permanently in France, 24600, near Riberac

Cordialement
