hello everybody

Hi Mike and welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place, maybe pay a visit to the OFS. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.

It sounds to me like you could be having an ignition breakdown, either plugs/leads or coil pack. A good full service should hopefully sort it. (y)

thanks again for all the welcomes im hoping that it is just in dire need of a service ,still loving the car though , little bit more quality than my last ford , which i still miss now a dreg 87 mk2 xr2 it died of skin cancer from the inner archs out ,cant see the cougar going the same way :nono:

1 of the reasons i wanted to get another ford really
and the fact that you hardly ever see another 1 , i drove a 300 mile round trip to get my car and i only saw 1 other cougar all the way and people do look as you drive by :smile5:

oh yes and i will be joining up as soon as my wages go in :yesnod:

cheers for the nice friendly replies , i'm still intending on joining up to the club and hope to meet some of you next year if the show i'm organizing all goes to plan .

I gave the car a good service today and i'm glad to say that she is running better she still feels as though she's holding back a touch though , don't think the fuel filter had ever been changed as it was completely black sludge coming out of it

anyway finally took a pic , hope you like it

I thought that 99.9% of cougars were frosty, I actually saw a one of the elusive lesser spotted red ones the other week, now that's the colour I want.
I hope you have fun with your cat, I can tell you now that they are far better built than an xr2, I also had a C reg one years ago, with one of those horrible 4 pot CVH engines
I think mine was made of filler and not metal lol.
