Hello from Hampshire

Hi and welcome. Benham has made some very good points, so there's not much to add.

The only thing I'll say is that if you buy a 2.0, you may later come down with a case of cylinder envy. It's very unlikely that if you buy the V6 from the off that you'll regret it - as the only real cost difference will be all of 5 or 6 MPGs. I haven't driven the 2.0, but I'm guessing that the lower down torque that a larger engine provides suits the nature of the Cougar better - a good GT that doesn't handle too badly when you need it. That said, I'm sure the 2.0 is a great engine too, and I'm clearly bias being a V6er. Good luck with the search.

I'm with Jack, I doubt many have purchased a V6 and wished they'd have gone for a 2.0.

Unless of course you have some silly-power modifying to do in which the Zetec is a wonderful base engine.

I'm not "hating on" the 2.0 it's a lovely engine but the V6 is a better match for the Cougar as a GT out-the-box.

Leather seats/door cards & front fogs are the obvious things you don't get with a Zetec (not all V6 cars have leather of course but no Zetecs do unless someone has retro-fitted it)

Little things like illuminated sun visors, overhead console, traction control, heated front screens are rare as already mentioned

Some people here moaning about zetecs should actually try driving one

I'm not aware of anyone moaning about Zetecs; just trying to paint a full picture of the equipment/options available in both models.
I doubt the comments will affect any potential purchase ;) of either model but it is always worth knowing as much as possible which, after-all, was the intention of the OP with his first post.

Point taken quicksilver
I have to say from owning both my zetec is as quick off the line as any of the three v6 s I have owned and feels more agile may be a power to weight thing
