If you didn't already know, the standard head unit isn't a double-din size, although it looks like it should be.

The original Ford stereo's all had double din units fitted. However, a lot of us have replaced them with single din units. My original stereo didn't have a cd player, only a tape player and radio, which is why I changed it.

OEM Ford HU's, of Cougar era, are not true double-DIN's; as they aren't deep enough.
 
Cheers Guys, as I understand they are 1 1/2 din which is a bit of a pain. I will probably go for a single din as I don't want to hack the car up. May improve on the speakers if they are not up to much. For now it will be my Wife's car but she does not keep cars long so when it come time to change. It will be ALL MINE!!!

Do we have a map on here of club members locations? I was wondering how may lived near me.
 
It was, couldn't stay around for a cuppa when I had a Cougar to drive!
