Hi! I'm Nick from West Sussex, now retired due to a stroke in 2013! 11 years on & after losing pretty much everything post stroke - Lost home, wife left for someone else etc etc......I lost mobility too for a while, but slowly learned to walk & talk again, my memories all returned slowly, all has been extraordinary to go through & come out much better than anyone expected!

I'm on my 3rd Cougar now after owning a couple of higher mileage examples. After the 1'st one I was hooked & absolutely sure that these were/are my favourite cars. Being older than I'd like to be, I just found that the 90's & early 00's era of all cars esp coupe's are my favourite era of cars in general!

Anyway, Spring 2023 I find myself with enough money to buy a really nice Cougar.....The hunt didn't take too long & I was soon the owner of a 2001 low mileage example in my favourite metallic silver colour! 37.000 miles from new & really well cared for.....After a set of new wheels & tyres were purchased, off it went to a local paint shop to get every imperfection dealt with, I had at last, a Cougar to last me well into the future! She is garaged a lot of the time including autumn/winter - I use my old X-Type to ferry myself & my large dog around! Would love to go to some South East shows if there are any next year. I can do long distance but due to my limited ability to stand for too long, the nearer the better!

Unfortunately, at the moment she has the failed alternator scenario, new battery & Ford wiring mod performed, she gets a new alt in a matter of days when my man can fit in replacing it! New battery fitted & it still drains when left for a couple of days! I hope & pray that that is all the problem is.....

Here are a few shots! I will post my older ones in due course - I have loads of images of all 3!!

Hello Nick and welcome to the forum. (y)
That looks to be a very tidy example you have there and I hope it serves you well once you've got the electrical problem sorted out.

Glad to have you here, Nick!

You've clearly overcome some serious challenges and you should know that, even in this small group, you're not alone. Wishing you all the best and hope you stick around with us!

Not angry just jealous, at 172000 miles the Amazon is in the September of her life 😢

I think you're being needlessly pessimistic.

A well-used and well-maintained car will last far longer than that. There's a taxi driver in London who runs an honest-to-God Mk1 Mondy that's got over half a million on it.

I think our friend here has a lovely low-miler here, but she needs to run and be the best Cougar she can be. Fresh oil. Belts. A critical eye at all the balljoints and transmission mounts. Because tiny mileage is absolutely no better than high mileage. And high mileage is absolutely not worse.

Your Amazon has decades left in her.... she just needs the will and the effort.
